Howdy!!

Howdy!!

How are things going so far for a Monday? So far so good here in the desert. Well here is the info I promised about our short trip to Las Vegas. Enjoy!

24 April 12

We left home at around 7:00am, John is here to care for Chris while we are away in Sin City. We arrived in Phoenix at around 9:00am. We stopped for breakfast at the Waffle House.

We had plenty of coffee and Elise had the ham and eggs and I had the pork chops and eggs. It was all good. After breakfast we stopped at a Circle K to get a couple of drinks before we hit the road again.

We are off and running. We were making good time and then it happened. We were stuck in traffic. It seems like every time we head for Vegas we get stuck in traffic for some reason or other. This time we were stalled in traffic outside of Kingman. The reason being their was a semi-truck on fire and it was burning really good.

We were stuck in a long line of cars and everyone was getting out of their cars to watch the truck burn. The flames were spectacular. One fire truck arrived and then other came to help. Their were several police cars around as well. They were trying to keep the fire from getting into the desert foliage because if that had happened it would have been terrible. We were stalled for about 40 to 50 minutes. What a fire!

We finally got moving and as we drove by the truck you could not recognize it as being a truck, it had burned to the ground. We don't think that anyone was hurt. We finally arrived in Vegas at the MGM Grand. We got checked into our room and what a room it was. It is now 4:00pm.

We got one of the new renovated rooms and it was very nice, wow! In the room there is a fridge filled with goodies that are priced beyond belief. There is a 200ml bottle of Patron Tequila that cost $32.00. A bottle of water is $5.00. A bottle of Grey Goose is $30.00 and it is only a 200ml bottle. A package of fancy chocolate coins are $12.00. Now you see why we take along our own booze, eh? While we were on the road we listened to a book on tape. It was very good and touched our memories of dying parents and life transitions.

So after we relaxed and downed a few Jack and Cokes we went down to the casino. We played the slots for 6 hours and we were having a great time. Pulling the handles and having the hostess to bringing us those free   Jack and Cokes, smile!

We started to get a bit hungry so we stopped in the food court for a bit to eat. We had decided to eat on the cheap this trip so we ate at Mickey D's for dinner. It was good and the court was packed so we were not the only one eating on the cheap, smile! After we ate we returned for more slots and more Jack and Coke. We spent about $300.00 and we ended up with $330.00, so we were ahead a little bit.

We returned to our room to call it a night. It has been a good day so far at the MGM Grand. I will end it here and I will post the next day later in the evening.
Later.....Jessie & Elise

The pics above are of the fire on our way to Kingman. That is us in the blue Prius. Elise is striking a pose next to the Prius. We will post pics of our room in the next posting.

It's Monday!!

Good Morning

Mood: Happy

Music listening to: Holiday by Madonna

Monday is here! How are you doing? I started the day off at 5:00am caring for Chris. Elise is in her cave this morning and she is not making a sound. That means she will be catching up on some much needed zzzz's. She will be up and out later this morning. Any plans for today?

None here as of yet and that is a good thing,eh? I am still recovering from a fantastic birthday, a wonderful day indeed. I will be posting about our Vegas trip shortly. As soon as I get a few things done for Chris I will get it started with pics.

The above pic is one of the many birthday cards I received. This one is of the adult content so beware of it, smile. Inside of the card it says "Happy Birthday To A Unique Member" By all means you can use your imagination to fill in the blanks. I have some diverse, out there friends, but I love them all and the sense of humor that they all have is beyond reproach, smile!

Well, I had better check on Chris and get him settled. I will be back in a bit.
Later......Jessie & Elise

Tiger, Marcie, Jet have a good one.

Loraine, how are you?

Jane and John, take it slow and easy today. Good luck at the doc's office this afternoon.

Shoo and Stu, have a great day.

Flo and John, thank you for the great collage.

JT, I hope that you feel better soon. Tomorrow is your day. Happy Birthday!

Good Night & Thank You All

Good Night

This has been a fantastic day and I owe it to all of you. My friends and family. This has been one of the best birthdays that I have had.

We went to see the Arizona Repertory Singers and they were fantastic. What a show! After that we went to the original El Charro downtown for dinner and the food was outstanding and the margarita's were excellent. They were so good that we had three apiece. Bobby was with us for dinner and for the ARS show as well.

I thought that would end my birthday celebrating but I was wrong. We got back home and Paula and Marty had left a birthday card for me as well. Thank you! I also received a card from Rosie and a very nice candle. I have a thing for candles!

I have to tell you I am stuffed and so is Elise. Elise is so stuffed she has already hit the sheets to read and recover. it is only 7:30pm! What's up with that? I will relax and reflect on this birthday. After Rosie leaves for the night I will waddle in and hit the sheets too!

Again I want to thank everyone for making my birthday a very special one. I will get around to posting about our Vegas trip.

Cheers......Jessie Elise

Tiger, Marcie, Jet sleep well.

Dena and Bucky, wow thank you for the very nice gift card.

Jane and John, we enjoyed the concert very much. Wow, what a show. How is John feeling? We were worried about his back with all of that standing.

A New Year Starts Today!

Good Morning

Mood: Wonderful

Music listening to: Happy Birthday To Me

Happy Birthday To Me! I started another year today and I am very happy and blessed to be here. I want to thank God for allowing me to wake up this morning and to start this new year off feeling loved, blessed and grateful.

I would like to thank my loving wife Elise for making this day and every day a special one for me. She keeps me going and she keeps me strong.

I would like to thank my family and my many friends for sharing this day with me. I have received many cards, emails, gifts, gift cards, dinners, and much love from you all. This is a day that I will never forget.

This afternoon Elise is taking me to see the Arizona Repertory Singers. I know that this will be special because  we have listened to them sing before. As a matter of fact one of the members whose name is John and his son will be singing today. We had dinner with John and his lovely wife Jane last night.

Later in the evening Elise is taking me along with Bobby to eat Mexican food at El Charo's. The food there is excellent and yes we will be saying dos margarita's por favor! Smile!

As you can see I have a full day today. I don't know if I am going to be able to post our Vegas trip but I will try to fit in. Again I want to thank everyone for making my birthday a very special one. The topper is that we have a Grand Niece named Ava, and that makes it all worth while.
Later......Jessie & Elise

Good Night

Good Night

Well, another day has just about come to a close and it has been a good one. I got plenty of rest today and we spent sometime with Chris watching a few more episodes of the Big "C". It is very good and Chris likes it.

Rosie is here to care for Chris this evening. Elise planned a birthday dinner at Le Rendez-Vous. It is a very nice French restaurant. The food was excellent let me tell you and the company was superior.

We were joined by Jane and John. We were looking for Shoo and Stu but something must to have happened because they did not show.

We shared a nice bottle Beaujolais. I had the Fillet special, Elise had the Shrimp stuffed with crab. Jane and John had the Salmon. We also shared the Escargot and that was fantastic. For dessert Elise and I shared a souffle and Jane and John shared a Creme Brulee. It was a wonderful evening to celebrate my birthday. Thank you Elise, you are too good to me.

We returned home and Elise hit the sheets to read and I will stay up to watch TV until Rosie leaves for the night. I will then check on Chris and then I will call it a night.

The above pictures are of us and our meals at Le Rendez-Vous. Have a great evening and sleep well.

We returned home and Elise was caring for Chris and I went to take care of an errand and the get my haircut on the airbase. I returned home and I made a smoked salmon dip that is great. It was made from the Alaskan
Salmon that we caught in Alaska.

Sunday!!

Good Morning

Mood: Frisky, (hint,hint)

Music listening to: Let's Get It On by Marvin Gaye (classic R&B)

It's Sunday! What's up? I started the day off really early and Elise started of with me as well. The day started around 2:00am, we were being serenaded by two birds in the orange tree. I mean they were really going at it. Only thing I could think of that would have them singing so much is that they were watching a risque bird DVD in the tree. Smile!

I got up and I went to the tree and they were not deterred one bit. So I picked up a pine cone and I tossed it into the tree. The two birds turned off the DVD and they flew out of the nest. I crawled back to bed and I told Elise that they flew away.

Wouldn't you know it they returned in about 10 minutes and they turned the DVD back on and they were at it again, just singing along. (I have got to get the DVD, eh?). I went back out and I tossed another pine cone into the tree and once again the DVD was turned off and they flew away. I crawled back to bed and I guess that they had finished with the DVD, so they let us finally get back to sleep.

I got back up at 4:45am to get Chris settled and ready for Elise to care for him this morning. Is Elise going to make it over to care for Chris this morning? Or have the birds done her in? Any plans for today?

The coffee is good this morning and I could use about a gallon or more, smile! We are going to meet up with Paula and Marty this morning for breakfast at a place called Joel's Bistro. We have never been there and it should be an adventure in gastronomic  delight.

We had a very nice dinner last night at "Downtown" the food was very good. We started off with a nice bottle of vine. A nice red from Alba in Italy. A bit pricey but well worth the $45.00 price tag. Elise got the catfish with rice and I got the grilled chicken with chorizo mashed potatoes. We had a wonderful dessert as well. We shared a Jalapeno chocolate ice cream sundae that was fantastic.

After dinner we went to see the play "Red" at the Arizona Theater Company. The place was packed and the play was excellent. The two actors deserved the standing ovation that they received. We returned home and Elise hit the pillow and I checked on Chris. I followed Elise's lead and I fluffed up my pillow and it was game over. We are going to go to the movie this evening after Rosie arrives to care for Chris.

Elise is all packed and ready for our trip to Vegas on Tuesday morning. I have my things all out and ready to be packed. We are looking forward to the short get a way. We are hoping to come back with plenty of green stuff, smile!

Have a great day and enjoy. Tomorrow is the dreaded Monday don't you know?
Later........Jessie & Elise

It's The Weekend!

Good Morning

Mood: Refreshed

Music listening to: Roadrunner by Junior Walker and the All Stars. (classic R&B)

The Weekend is upon us! How goes it? I started the day of at 4:45am looking in on Chris and getting him settled for the day. Elise is not in her cave this morning   and that means that she will be hitting the pool this morning. Any plans for today?

The coffee is very good and hot, just like the weather here in the Old Pueblo. It was in the 90's yesterday and it is supposed to continue in that range for the next six or seven days. It is time to breakout the t-shirts, shorts, sandals and flip flops don't you think?

We did not go to the Junior High gathering yesterday because I was not feeling well at all. I had all of my clothes out and ready to go,but Elise decided that it was not a good idea. So we went to Cody's Beef and Bean for dinner and it was very good. I had to force myself to eat because I did not have an appetite.

We returned home and I hit the sheets and I dropped off as soon as my head hit the pillow. I woke up later during the night and I checked on Chris. I returned to the pillow and I was back asleep just that fast. This morning I woke up refreshed and ready to be the Wizard of the world, smile! Loraine!

I have a couple of errands to take care of this morning. John will be here to care for Chris and Rosie will be here this evening as well.

We are going out for dinner this evening to the "Downtown Cafe" and after that we are going to the Arizona Theater Company to see the play called " Red". It got great reviews and our friends who have already seen said that it was great.

We have a Falcon that I have seen for the second time in one of our trees. It hunts and catches the doves and makes them a snack or it's dinner. I saw it yesterday while I was taking out the mail to the mailbox. I saw movement on one of the branches and  I turned and there it was. It was watching me because it had just captured a dove and I guess it thought that I was going to enjoy it for dinner. I took a photo of it with my phone but it was not clear enough. I wish that I had my Canon Rebel with me. One if these times I will be able to get a good pic of it.

Hey, my Buy one,Get one free car deal was going nicely and I had a good crowd this time looking over the cars. I had a huge smile on my face let me tell you. The Marathon Bridge players cooperated with me nicely a little too nice I thought and I found out why.

All of the cars were unlocked and people were checking them out and the were liking what they saw. I was saying in my mind (Cha Ching!) jackpot. I had all of the keys on my table so a test drive could be taken. I gave out the keys to a Caddie, and a Honda and then it happened.

The keys did not work for any of the cars. I glanced into the house and all of the bridge players were at the window laughing at me because they gave me their house keys instead of their car keys. All of my customers left quickly and I was in shock that the bridge players would do that to me. I am thinking that Elise may have set me up this time.

I gathered up my table the keys and I went back inside and I told Chris all about it and wouldn't  you know it he began to laugh and howl as well. I grabbed myself a shot of Sambuca and I vowed to get even the next time. You cannot trust a bridge player they are good bluffers, eh? I did have a bright moment though. Our friends Flo and John liked my pic of the Hummer sitting on it's nest. So they made a greeting card out of the pic and I love it, it is fantastic!

Well, I had better get busy. Have a good weekend and enjoy!
Later.........Jessie & Elise

Tiger,Marcie, Jet stay safe.

Erika, good to hear from you.

Loraine, have a good one.

Jane and John, how did your evening out go?

Sho and Stu, what are you up to?

Ross and Denise, what is new?

Dena, how are things?

TGIF!! WooHoo!

Good Morning

Mood: Cautious

Music listening to: Tick Tock of the Clock

TGIF!! How are you doing? I started the day off at 4:00am due to Lampchop was having a barking fest so I got up and I saw nobody at all. Elise is not in her cave this morning but she will be up later to start her day rolling along. Any plans for today?

I haven't had my coffee as of yet but I will as soon as I grind up some beans and put the kettle on. I need it badly it is just way to early to be up, eh? Along with my coffee I will have a bowl of oats as well.

We went to see "Woman In Black" yesterday and it was surprisingly good. It keep us on the edge of our seat the whole time. Elise and I were the only ones in the theatre and that was creepy.

We returned home and I was really tired from working in the yard earlier in the day. I trimmed the hedges and I trimmed the Ivy as well. It was a lot of work and it drained me big time and the sun and the heat did not help at all. Elise went to her doctor's appointment and I sat down for a bit.

Elise returned and she prepared cheese crisps, refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes, jalapenos, and salsa for dinner. It was very good and we had plenty of cold cervasa's to get it all down. We watched the remake of "Arthur" it was pretty good and funny. It starred Elise's favorite actress Helen Mirren.

After the DVD Elise hit the sheets to read and I watched TV until Rosie left for the night. I checked on Chris and I hit the sheets as well. I was all set to read my Kindle but I was just to tired so I went to sleep.

Elise is hosting a marathon bridge game this afternoon and I have to remember to get the tables and chairs out of the storage shed this morning. I will be the host this afternoon of a game called " Buy One, Get One Free". It will start right after Elise's bridge session begins. So if you are in the market for a good used car just stop on by. If you buy on car you get a second one for free. It's a deal! I will be showing several makes and models so come on down! This game will on only be played for one hour and be prepared to haggle with a few bridge players but you have to be smart because they are experts at bidding, smile. Tax, title and license are the sole responsibility of the buyer. Any problems with the DMV and the local police will require a lawyer. All sales are final.

Well, I had better go and put the kettle on and get this day started. The above pics are the latest of lour Hummer. Have a great Friday and enjoy! We are also going to a gathering of past schoolmates of Elise's this evening.

Later........Jessie & Elise

Tiger, Marcie, Jet wake up sisters. Jet keep on resting.

Jane and John, take it slow and easy.

Loraine, have a great day. I am doing 50 shuffles a day so lookout.

Erika, have a wonderful day.

I forgot to mention that we saw "Titanic" in XD 3D and it was very good. I am concerned that Elise's back is starting to bother her again. We will have to keep an eye out on that.
