Good Night

Good Night,

How are you? I will begin to post photos of Mum's celebration tomorrow. I was going to start today, but I had an emotional set-back today. It is Monday and I would get my daily call from Mum and with no call today it has got me down just a bit. Things really do change, eh?

Good Night...............

Monday!! Oh NO!

Good Morning,

Mood: Grateful

Music listening to: Straight Up by Paula Abdul

It's a Monday beware! I started the day off at 5:20am caring for Chris. Elise is not purring his morning but she is once again guiding those lost ships in the fog. She will be up and getting her day started very soon. Any plans for today?

It is a cold 34 degrees here in the Old Pueblo this morning and the snow on the mountains yesterday was a great sight to see. We had flurries down here in the valley and it was good to see and feel it.

I will give a brief account of Mum's celebration a bit later in the day after I review all of the photos that were taken. It was a very nice event and we had at least 65 people in attendance, maybe more. Well, I had better get some more coffee and get this day moving along. Have a good day and stay safe out there. The above photo was taken by Elise of me and Mum during her last few hours with us.

Later..............

Tiger,Marcie, Jet have a good day.

Ross, how are things?

Monna, how is everyone doing?

Joe and Mary, have a good one.

Steph, it would be nice to see you in Vegas.

JT, glad that you are feeling better, the meds are working.

TGIF I Think?

Good Morning

Mood: Busy

Music listening to: She's A Bad Mama Jama by Carl Carlton

TGIF? How are you doing? I started the day off at 5:15am caring for Chris. Elise is floating on a cloud this morning but as soon as the windy weather hits her she will up and getting busy. Any plans for today?

I may not be online much today due to I will be preparing the patio area for Mums celebration. We hope that the weather holds up for it. We are due for some gusty winds and the possibility of a few showers. I also have a a few errands to run this morning as well. Chris's caregivers Angelica and Rosemary were both sick yesterday and that changed the whole day just a bit yesterday.

We did get to the movies to see Harry Potter and it was good. We also went to "Black Angus" for dinner. We both had the prime rib and it was excellent. We returned home to watch our Wildcats get bet by USC, they did not play well at all. We hope that they will do much better on Saturday against UCLA. I will tape it due to we will be busy with the celebration.

We are going to go to "Colors' this evening after Marv arrives to care for Chris. We will have a couple of Jack and Cokes and after that we will go to the Live Theatre to see a play. After that we will go to Buddy's Grill or Applebee's for a light. Have a good day.

Later............

Tiger, Marcie, Jet have a great day.

Jet, what do you think about PenPals Over 50? I have been a member for years.

JT, I am glad that you will be seeing a doctor today.

Thirsty Thursday

Good Morning

Mood: Cautious

Music listening to: Your Spotlight by Jennifer Holiday

How are you? I started the day off at 5:20am caring for Chris. Elise is tossing and turning this morning so I am sure that she will be up and headed for the gym very soon on this Thirsty Thursday. Any plans?

I have to turn in some paperwork this morning and I will do some touch up work on the patio area for Mum's celebration event. The coffee is doing it's job very well this morning and I have a bit of an appetite too!

We did a lot of shopping yesterday at Costco for Mum's celebration and it is coming together nicely so far. Rosemary cared for Chris yesterday and that gave us a chance to get a few things done. We were all set to watch a DVD that was recommended to us by Paula and Marty called " Unshackled " and we could not watch it due to it had two long cracks. A real let down let me tell you. So we reported it to NetFlix and we requested another one. In it's place we watched a movie with Helen M that was pretty good. Elise prepared cheese crisps, refried beans, tamales, and tomatoes for dinner. It was great! We got it all down with a few beers call Redbridge. Later in the evening Elise called it a night and after Rosemary left I checked on Chris and I followed suit. A good day.

Later..........

Tiger, Marcie, Jet have a good one.

Jet welcome to Penpals over 50. It is a very good group and we chat about many different topics. We don't agree all of the time but that is what makes this group unique and a lot of fun to belong to. You will not be disappointed.

JT, how are things going today?

Erika, glad that you are feeling better.

Jane and John, enjoy your visit to Vegas.

Also this afternoon after Rosemary arrives to care for Chris I will accompany Elise to Costco to shop for Mum's celebration that will take place this Saturday. We are going to stay home this evening and rest and watch a DVD. Wow, things have really changed quickly for us here in the Old Pueblo.

Good Night

Good Night

Well, the day is almost done. I got a good bill of health this morning from my doctor. He prescribed a cough syrup and a anti-b for my cough. How was your day?

I did some yard work this afternoon. I am really concerned about JT and what is going on with him. He has some sort of dermo problem that is causing hands and feet problems. I hope that he visits his doctor or a doctor here while he is in Tucson. It is a real worry for me.

We received a lovely bouquet of flowers today in remembrance of Mum from a long time friend of mine who lives in Fallen, Nevada. Rory we thank you so very much for your thoughtfulness and kindness.

Well, I had better get back to work with Chris. Have a good night.

Cheers....................

Rory, thank you so very much for the flowers. You are a dear friend.

Good Night

Good Night

Another day has come to a close. Elise prepared some good soup for dinner and we watched Mash on DVD with Chris. I am caring for Chris this evening and Elise is working on some paperwork. It feels really different and it is going to take some time to get used to the changes in our lifestyle. Normally Elise would be at her Mom's playing bridge right now.

Well, I had better get busy with Chris. Have a good night all.
Cheers...........

Tiger, Marcie, Jet sleep well.

JT, I will stop at DM tomorrow morning.

Ross, sounds like you had a great time in Thailand?

Afternoon It's Still Monday Right?

Good Afternoon,

How are you doing? We are still here in the desert of Tucson. Here is a bit of what went on during our staycation here in Tucson at the Marriott TownePlace Suites. Again we thank my brother Herman for getting us great rates and deals when we travel.

2-16-11

We started our staycation by meeting up with Ron and Nancy at Gus Balones for breakfast. It was great to see them and it was a lot of fun. We wish that we could see more of them. Elise had her usual the ham and eggs and I got my usual pork chops and eggs. Yummy let me tell you.

After breakfast we stopped at Toni's house to drop of Mum's walker for her to have and use. She was so pleased to have it that she wanted to pay for it and Elise declined the offer, but Toni said that she would make a donation to the Women's Club instead and that was very nice.

We arrived at the Marriott at around 12:10pm and we checked in and got settled. We turned on the laptop and we got ready to play games at 2:30pm. We ate Frito's and my famous tuna jalapeno dip and we also had popcorn as well. WE drank massive amounts of Jack and Coke. We had some fun relaxing and doing nothing. Elise kept thinking about her Mom ans how she was and then remembered she was not here to worry about. It is going to take some time to accept that. I even asked her to call her Mom , and then I stopped as I remembered. We usually call her daily when we are on a staycation or on vacation. We played games until 7:30pm, Wow! We finally called it game over at 11:00pm.

2-17-11

We woke up at 9:00am Wow! I took a nice hot shower while Elise was working out in the gym. She returned and she took a shower as well before we left for breakfast. We went to Village Inn and the food was very good and the place was packed and short of help. I had the chicken fried steak and Elise had oatmeal with cranberries and nuts. Good food. While we were eating we looked over the movie listing in the paper and we picked the movie Sanctum 3D at the IMAX theatre to see later in the day.

Last night Elise's Mom paid her a visit. Elise told her that she loved her and was grateful to have known her all of these years. Also Elise told her that she was very happy to help her during these last few years. Elise always made herself available to assist her(without disrupting her own life) except for the last three weeks which were very stressful and filled with Mom's needs only. Elise is happy that they became such good friends and she told her that she was blessed by her presence and love. Elise was always there for Mum when other family members were not and at times that really bothered me. As Elise talked to her Mom she could feel her gently slipping farther and farther away. Elsie did not feel sad, it felt liberating and peaceful and so very right.

At around 6:00pm headed for the movies and it was great. IMAX is wonderful and 3D made it even better. After the movies we had dinner at Picazzos and we ordered a gluten free pizza and 2 orders of hot wings. While we were there we found out that they has just reopened due to the franchise people had blown it, so the original owners had taken over. They gave us some good deals. Elise got her free due to they had run out of martini glasses and they gave us the wings for happy hour prices, so we saved $20.00. Awesome!! After dinner we stopped at Whole Foods o get some jalapenos and they have a huge gluten free product selection. Wow it has been such a good day so far.

Now it is 7:30pm and we are watching our Wildcats play Washington State and we are eating pizza and wings. We go a bottle of red from Trader Joe's called "Well Red" it is very good. It is about 9:30pm and the Cat's won. That calls for a few Jack and Cokes. Great food and drink. Burp!!!!!

2-18-11

We woke up at 8:00am due to my cellphone bean to ring. It was a 800 number. Bummer! We left to eat breakfast at the Blue Willow but we changed our mind and we hit Village Inn again. Are we creatures of habit or what? NOT!! We returned to our room and we listened to some more of our book on CD prior to checking out. On the way home we stopped at Plaza Liquor and we picked up a case of Gruet Champagne for Mum's celebration toasting. We got home and we unpacked the Kia and we picked up Chris for his doctor's appointment. After that we returned home and we went to Oregano's for thin crust pizza and a bottle of red and a few Bellini's for dessert. It was a very peaceful and much needed staycation.

Oh No! It's Monday!

Good Morning

I have a early morning doctor's appointment tomorrow to check on why this cough is still sticking around. Elise,Chris and I watched Shreik the final chapter on DVD and it was good. Chris loved it. We are still setting up and getting things ready for Mum's celebration gathering set for Saturday afternoon. Well, I had better get busy and get this Monday started. Have a good one.

Things are starting to slowly get back into the norm if you will. We are in the process of preparing for Mum's Celebration that will take place on Saturday. We are expecting a large crowd and we have people coming from as far as Saudi Arabia. It is a lot of work to prepare for this but Elise and I are handling it with a lot of help from friends.

We are going out for breakfast this morning to a place called the "Eclectic" we have been there many times and the food is good. It is a different feel going to breakfast without Mum with us, but we know that she is right there with us and telling the server that she wants her coffee really hot.

We are going to meet with Paula and Marty this evening at Zemems for dinner another one of Mum's favorite places to dine. I will give more on our recent staycation in a later post to our blog. Have a good day and stay safe.

Good Night

Good Night

How did your day go? It has been a busy one here in the Old Pueblo. I moved a few things of Mum's around in the house and I put a few things away in the shed. Elise spent the majority of the day finishing up clearing Mum's apartment.

Elise cleared the apartment and she turned in the keys. I know that she is very tired and she has hit the sheets already. I hope the she falls asleep very soon but I know that she is reading a book. I will check on her shortly.

Elise received a delivered surprise today from our sister Tiger Lilli who lives in Lebanon, Tenn. Tiger sent a very nice floral arrangement in honor of Mum and that made the both of us very happy. Elise that Tiger is so sweet and she is that and a lot more. Thank you again Tiger.

We have been blessed with so many friends that have been a comfort for us both. Well, I had better get busy with Chris. Have a good evening and sleep well.
Cheers.............

Tiger, Marcie, Jet, sleep well.

Sis, thank you for the wonderful card. We hope that all is well in the (A)?

Monday Again!

Good Morning

Mood: Very Tired, confused

Music listening to: Poison by Bell, Biv, Devoe

It's a Monday right? I started the day off at 5:15am caring for Chris. Elise is still sawing logs and rightly so. She is totally exhausted. We are just about finished with clearing out Mum's apartment. There were too many chiefs and not enough workers and no organization during the process at all. That alone made it a chore.

Elise playing bridge this morning and that may give her the break that she needs. We have a staycation planned for the 16th-18th 0f February right here in Tucson. We will get some much needed rest then. Our house is loaded with stuff and I will try to arrange some of it today while I am caring for Chris.

I would like to thank Lois and Lee for baking that wonderful Lemon Pie. It is very good and Chris loves it. Well, I had better get busy. Have a good day and stay safe.

Later..........

Tiger, Marcie, Jet how are you?

Jane and John, have a good day.

Monna, how is everyone? Thank you for the wonderful card.

Mood: Restless

Music listening to: Tell Her That I Love Her by Stevie Wonder (classic R&B)

How are you? I started the day at 5:15am looking in on Chris and getting him settled for Elise. Elise will be caring for Chris this morning. Right now she is off for a swim. She slept well last night and she purred like a kitten, she needs the rest badly.

I am on my second cup of coffee already and it is good. The family is supposed to be coming up today to continue going through Mum's apartment and getting things ready to be boxed up and taken out.

We had a good restful evening out after Marv arrived to care for Chris. We had dinner at Cafe Rio and let me tell you the food was very good. My appetite has not been good for the last few days and I know that it is from the stress that is going on hear. After dinner we went to the IT to see a play called "Miracles" and it was excellent. It was about what a child and family members go through having a child who is Autistic. We are sure that you would enjoy it as much as we did.

Well, I had better get back and check on Chris. Have a good day and stay safe.
Later..............

Tiger, Marcie, Jet have a good one.

Herman, thank you for making our upcoming staycation a go.

Hump Day

Good Morning

Mood: Humble

Music listening to: A Soothing CD called "Tea"

Hump Day again. How are you? I started the day off at 6:30am. Elise and I are caring for Chris this morning. I am not feeling my best this morning. I have developed a cough that is really a rough one, but Elise is looking after me with liquids and meds. Any plans for today?

The whole family is here with us and we are going through Mum's things at her apartment. This is the hardest part I believe sorting all of this out among the family. They will get back to it very shortly and will be at it for most of the day. I was there for a while yesterday and Angelica cared for Chris for the evening.

Elise received a very nice floral arrangement from my nephew Jerome and his wife Keshia. They remember Mum very well and all of the energy that she brought forth. Thank you! Well, I had better get back with Chris. Have a good day and I will keep you posted.

Mums Celebration gathering will be on the 26th of Feb here at our home. We will get invitations out very soon.

Good Morning

Mood: Sad

Music listening to: Stay With Me Tonight by Jeffery Osbourne

How are you? I started the day off at 5:20am caring for Chris. Elise is still floating on a cloud but she will be up and at it shortly. Ann, Sara, Jonny and Eddie are on a cloud as well. I am on my second cup of coffee this morning and it is good. Any plans for today?

I have a few errands to run and I will get them done as soon as Angelica arrives to care for Chris this morning. I also have to make an appointment to get my certifications renewed over the next few weeks.

The family is busy handling Mum's estate and it is a very tiring process and many memories and mementos are showing up but it is being dealt with very well. Mum did not want any special services or anything like that and she made it known to everyone. She did say that she wanted a Celebration gathering to take place here so people could gather and talk about her and her life. At the present time this is going to take place on the 26th of February. I will provide more info as it goes through the planning stage.

Well, I had better get back to Chris. Again we would like to thank everyone for your kindness and support while we go through this time of sadness.

Saturday Brrr!

Good Morning

Mood: Thawing Out!

Music listening to: Cutie Pie

Brrrr, it's cold outside. How are you? I started the day off at 5:00am looking in on Chris. Elise is still hibernating but she will spring into action shortly to care for Chris, after her workout. Any plans for today?

We visited Mum several times yesterday at the hospital and she is supposed to be discharged today and sent back to skilled nursing in the Forum where her apartment is located. She is very happy to be getting out of the hospital. She will be picking up where she left off with more therapy. I will stop by this morning to see how she is doing while Elise is caring for Chris.

Elise and I stopped in the casino last night to pick up our perks and while we were there we downed a couple of Jack's. We played the slots for about two hours and we lost $20.00. I was fun and the casino was packed with people. We are going to go out for dinner after Rosemary arrives to care for Chris this evening. We are going to Cafe Vicente for (tapas) and of course a bottle of red. After dinner we are going to the ATC to see a live play called "Ten Chimneys" it should be a good one but it got mixed reviews.

Well, I had better go and check on Chris. Have a great weekend.

TGIF Brrrrrr!

Good Morning

Mood: Freaking Cold!

Music listening to: Fire by the Ohio Players (very fitting indeed)

TGIF! How are you? I started the day thawing out at 5:00am caring for Chris. Elise is still in hibernation this morning but she will be making that move very soon, or not, smile. Any plans for today?

I am on my second cup of coffee already and it is so good. Well, we are still in the throngs of this cold spell here in the Old Pueblo, we are just not used to this at all. I was stuck at home yesterday waiting on the plumber to arrive to repair the busted pipe on the main house. He said that they are so busy and that they are booked all the way out through Monday of next week. We are hoping that we don't have any more problems in the near future.

Angelica took care of Chris most of the day yesterday because Rosemary called to say that she had to wait on the plumber to come out to fix two busted pipes at her house. I have couple of errands to run this morning and I am going to see Mum at the hospital. Marv will be caring for Chris this evening and that may give me a chance to get to the casino to pick up my perks before they expire and while I am there I believe a couple of Jack's are called for, smile.

Well, I had better get busy with Chris. Have a great Friday and stay happy, healthy and safe.

Later...............

Tiger, Marcie, Jet have a good day.

Ross, how are you guys?

Hump Day!!

Good Morning

Mood:Worried

Music listening to: Dance With Somebody by Whitney Houston

It's a Hump Day, so enjoy it is the middle of the week. How are you? I started the day off at 7:00am can you believe that? Elise started her day off at 7:00am as well. What is going on here, eh? Any plans for today?

Well, I will let the secret out of the bag. Angelica did a 24 hour stay with Chris and that allowed me to get the extra shut-eye. Right now I am feeling pretty good. I am worried a bit about Mum though. We spent a lot of time with her yesterday and she is still having a hard time getting air. Mum may never be able to live by herself anymore and that is not going to sit well with her at all.

They they sent her for an echo cardiogram yesterday and the results should be made known today. After Rosemary arrives this afternoon I will head over to the hospital to see her. Elise and I may go to the movies this evening as well. We are under a severe cold watch for he next three days. The temps for the highs are in the 40 degree range and the lows are going to be in the 20's and possibly lower.

Well, I had better go and check on Chris and relieve Angelica. Have a great Hump Day.

Later................

Tiger,Marcie, Jet, have a good one.

Loraine, stay warm.

Jane and John, what are you up to today?

Good Morning

Mood: Cautious

Music listening to: None

How are you? I started the day off at 5:20am looking in on Chris and getting him settled. Elise is still swinging through the trees this morning but she will touching ground soon and starting her day. Any plans for today?

Angelica will be here shortly to care for Chris. She will do a 24 hour shift with Chris to see how she does alone with Chris for a extended period of time. I will be here in the main house to assist if she needs it. Hey, the coffee is good and I think I will have a bit of Cheddar cheese bread to go along with it. I made the bread and it is delicious.

Ann is here with us and she stayed overnight so she could spend time with Mum. I talked to Mum last night on the phone and she sounded much better. I will go to see her today at TMC. Elise told me last night that she is starting to joke around and that is good. She may receive a CScan today to look for problems that may be causing her such distress.

Well, I had better get another cup of coffee and rest until Angelica arrives. Have a great Tuesday.

Later...............

Tiger, Marcie, Jet have a good day.
