Sunday!!

Good Morning

Mood: Feeling Good

Music listening to: Dancing On The Ceiling by Lionel Richie

Wake up! How are you doing? I started the day off at 5:20am looking in on Chris and getting him ready to start his day. Elise is still floating on a small cloud this morning but she will be up and raring to go. Elise will be caring for Chris this morning. Any plans for today?

We are going out for breakfast with Mum to a place called Millie's Pancake House. We have not been there in ages and the food is great there. I am on my second cup of coffee this morning and it is good and hot. Elise and I are going to the movies this evening after Rosemary arrives to care for Chris. We are going to see the "Hereafter" by Clint Eastwood.

We had a very nice time last night. We stopped in a new restaurant called "Downtown" we looked it over and Elise had a dry martini and I had a Mojito that was very good. Then we walked over to "Casa Vicenti" for dinner and it was great. Elise ordered a glass of red and I had one of the specialty drinks. We munched on cubed potatoes that sat in a mild and a hot sauce, it was very good. We ordered our Tapas and we were really ready for them. We shared Pork tenderloin, stuffed calamari, orange roughy with little shrimp, and giant clams. It was excellent.

After dinner we walked over to the Arizona Theatre Company to see the play "Ma Rainey Black Bottom" it was excellent. It was set back in the 1920's and it showed just how bad racism was back in the day for blacks. It showed deep concerns about personal feelings and things that had happened to family and friends. It also showed how racism causes many other problems to arise amoung not only blacks but everyone. It was a good comparison of then and now and in many ways no change has been seen. The theatre was packed and I thought that many did not really get the message that it presented. The music was very good and the singing was great and the meaning of having the blues was understood by all.

We returned home and I checked on Chris and we called it a night. A very good day indeed.

Well, here is a bit more from our Kentucky trip.

21-Oct-10

We got up at around 8:15am we sleep for about 12 hours and it was great. Nice and quiet and a great bed. We went down for breakfast in the hotel and Elise had oatmeal, yogurt and a scrambled egg. I had eggs, a biscuit, turkey sausage and a cinnamon roll. We both had plenty of coffee. After we went to Nancy and Ron's home and she gave us a tour of her beautiful house. Afterward we left to start our tour of the Bourbon Trail. Nancy drove and Elise was up in the front seat and Presha and I sat in the back. The first distillery was the "Four Roses" in Lawrenceburg, KY. It was filled with smells and sounds that made it hard to hear the tour guide at times as she talked about the plant and how it worked. Of course we had to have a few tastings and it was very good. We purchased a few glasses to take back with us that had to Four Roses logo on it with the roses in the bottom of the glass.

After that we ate lunch at a place called "The Talk of the Town" which was very good. Elise had a chicken salad(no bread), I had a club sandwich and a pasta salad, Nancy and Presha ordered Reuben sandwich's. It was all good. Then we went to the "Wild Turkey" distillery. We learned a lot about how bourbon is made. The working portion of the distillery was closed due to it was moving into new and bigger place up the road. This time the tour guide was very good and you could hear every word. Yes, we had our tastings there too and it was good but the Four Roses tastings we outstanding. We left and we returned to Nancy and Ron's home, Ron was home and it was good to see him.

We left and returned to our hotel and then we walked around on 4th street in the downtown area. We felt a bit weird because here we are wearing shorts and everyone else was wearing long pants and jeans, but we got over it. It was a bit chilly though, smile. We got a call from my brother Herman to see when were we going to see my niece Melodee and we had made arrangements to meet on Tuesday due to Mel was going to Nashville over the weekend. Herman keep calling to see where we were and what we were doing several times that evening. He called and said that Mel could meet us this evening instead of on Tuesday and that was great. We told Herman that she could meet us at a place called "Red Star Tavern" on 4th street and he said that she would meet us there. We got a table a a glass of red while we waited for Mel to arrive.

Mel arrived and it was good to see her we bot gave her big hugs. I did not know it but Elise had a funny feeling that something was up because Herman kept calling to see where we were. We began to talk with Mel and the next thing you know Donna appeared. Donna is Herman's wife and right after that Talia appeared. Talia is my niece as well and then Herman appeared. Wow , it blew me away we were totally surprised and very happy to see them all together. Herman said that they had been waiting all day to surprise us but we were just not staying put. We all had a very nice dinner together and Herman picked up the tab. What a treat it was and it will be remembered forever. We returned to our room and we called it a night. A very good evening in Louisville, KY.

Well, I had better get ready for breakfast with Elise and Mum.

Later...................

Jeanne, we miss you.

Tiger, Marcie, Jet stay safe.

Monna, how are things?

Good Morning

Mood: Feeling Lucky

Music listening to: Nobody by Keith Sweat

How are you? I started the day off at 5:00am looking in on Chris and getting him settled. Yes, I am back into the swing of things, eh? Elise is still in slumber land but she will be up and caring for Chris very soon. The coffee is very good this morning and my stomach is growling too, smile. Any plans for today?

I am going to venture out to the casino early this morning to pick up my perks that will expire today if I don't pick it up. While I am there I will give my arm a workout for a little while before heading back home. We are going to watch the Wildcats play football this afternoon on TV against UCLA. Go Cats!

Later in the evening after Rosemary arrives to care for Chris we are going to have dinner at Casa Vicente, they have great Tapas. After dinner we are going to the Arizona Theatre Company to see a musical play that should be very good. And that is what are day will look like if all goes well. Have a great day and stay safe and happy.

Here is another installment of our Kentucky trip:

20 Oct 10

We left our hotel at 7:30am headed for the airport. We took the hotel shuttle and we left the Tacoma at the Springhill Suites, it saved us $9.00 dollars per day to park there instead of at the airport. We had breakfast in the airport that was not too bad at all, or we were just hungry, smile. We had scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and coffee. Elise also had a margarita that was not bad at all. Elise says, "Hey we are on vacation".

We boarded our plane and it was a good flight with only a 15 minute delay departing. We arrived in Louisville at 4:30pm and we picked up our rental car a Ford Focus and we found our hotel in downtown Louisville. We are staying at another Springhill Suite and it is very nice. It is furnished in a European style and very spacious. Once again we have o give a shout to my brother Herman for getting us great deals and rates. After we got settled in the room we asked the desk about a good place to eat that was in walking distance. They suggested a place on 4th street called the "Pub". Let me tell you is was great. It was a English Pub and it was cool. Elise had the lamb with cranberry chutney and goat cheese served with fries. It was delicious! I had the Bangers and Mash and I pigged out let me tell you. We shared a good red called " McWilliams" it is a Australian wine, a excellent Merlot.

For dessert we had a flight of bourbon and it was fantastic. Like Elise said we are on vacation, smile. We walked back to our room and Elise called Nancy to let her know that we had arrived in Kentucky. We made planed to meet tomorrow for a Bourbon tour with her and Presha. It was a good day and it was time to get some much needed sleep to adjust to the time changes between Louisville and Tucson, AZ. We are looking forward to tomorrow with Nancy, Ron and Presha.

I will post a few photos from our room in downtown Louisville and of the Pub later today.

Later............

Jeanne, we miss you.

Tiger, Marcie, Jet have a good one.

Erika, how are you?

Ross, have a good weekend.

Steph, how are things?

19-Oct-10

We left home a 12:30pm headed for Phoenix, AZ. We listened to a book on tape during the drive. We are staying at a Springhill Suites by Marriott. The room is huge and we we like it a lot. We are very grateful to my brother Herman for getting us some unbelievable rates. Thank God for Herman!

We went to eat dinner at at place called "Bostons Restaurant and Sports Bar". It is not too far from our hotel and they have gluten free pizza there. The food was great and the hot wings were very good. We hope that they build one down in Tucson. They are in Prescott, Phoenix, and Tempe, AZ. Elise liked the glasses so well that whey served the drinks in, so she bought couple of them so we could remember the name.

We returned to our room so we could rest up for our early departure in the morning. We are taking to shuttle to the airport at 7:30am. Our flight leaves at 10:20am for Kentucky. We hope that all goes well for Chris with Kecia and Rosemary because this is the longest we have been away.

Saturday

Good Morning

Mood: Antsy

Music listening to: The World is a Ghetto by War

How are you? I started the day off at 5:00am looking in on Chris and getting him settled. Elise will be caring for Chris this morning. Any plans for today? The coffee is good this morning and I am thinking about Schweinaxe. It must be Oktoberfest time, eh? Bier and Schweinaxe is wunderbar!

I have to run a few errands this morning out on the airbase. I will begin to pick up a few things for our upcoming vacation to Louisville, Kentucky. Elise and I are going to see the Wildcats play football against Oregon this evening. So it's Go Cat's! It should be a lot of fun and very noisy with all of the Zona Zoo around us.

Rosemary will be caring for Chris this evening. Well, I had better get this day started. Have a great day.

Later............

Good Night

Good Night

Well, we just got back from eating dinner at Cody's Beef and Beans with Mum. The food was great, but we were all stuffed to the gills, even me, smile. Mum had chicken fingers and fries. Elise and I had the T-bone specials. Elise had a baked potato and I had the fries. Elise had a salad and I had the clam chowder.

We shared a carafe of Burgundy like we always do and it was good. Mum had coffee and a huge brownie topped with ice cream. We had to be rolled out to the car, we were about to explode. We took Mum home and we worked on our crossword puzzles for a short while. Elise gave up the ghost and she hit the sheets. I will be more than glad to follow after Marv leaves and I check on Chris.

We hope that your day has been a good one? Sleep well and have a great weekend.

Prost................

Marcie, Jet, good night.

Shoo Shoo, good to hear from you today.

Good Afternoon

Howdy all,

Well, half of the day has disappeared and so far so good. Elise is setting up for her hosting of a Marathon Bridge session. The best news that was received today is that Elise got thumbs up from her surgeon. She has healed nicely and now she can get back to all of her favorite activities to include swimming again, she is elated to say the least and so am I. Sister's I am doing the Happy Dance!

The temps have really taken a dip lately. It is only 78 degrees right now and it feels a little bit cool for us here in the desert, but I am not complaining one bit. Well I just wanted to pass along the results from Elise's doctor visit. Enjoy the rest of the day.

Cheers...................

TGIF

Good Morning

Mood: Thinking Oktoberfest

Music listening to: Nada, dogs barking

TGIF!! How are you doing? I started the day off at 5:45am. Elise is still sailing down a lazy river but she will hit some rapids and that will get her day started. Any plans for today? We are going out for dinner with Mum too Cody's Beef and Beans this evening. Other than that no plans at all.

Elise and I went to the movies yesterday to see Nanny McPhee the Return and it was pretty good and we were surprised that Emma Thompson directed the movie. It was funny. After the movie we went to BJ's for dinner and it was very good. It is the first time that we went there. We sat out on the patio and we watched the traffic and new pavement being put down on Broadway. Elise and I shared a wings that were really good. Elise ordered a gluten free pizza and I had a pizza with pepperoni. I wash mine down with a beer called Piranha has a matter of fact I had two of then they were good. Elise had two Redbridge beers that are gluten free and they are good too. For dessert we shared a root beer drink that was very good and a peach drink that was very good.

After dinner we stopped in Barnes and Noble to get a crossword puzzle dictionary to aid us when we get stuck on one or two of them. We returned home and Elise called it a night and I checked my email and then I called it a night as well. Kecia was caring for Chris for the evening and she stayed overnight. We heard from JT and he seems to be doing OK in Tempe at Grad School.

Well, I had better go to see what the dogs are barking at. Have a good Friday and a safe weekend.
