Good Morning,
Mood: Saddened
Music listening to: Pleasure Principle by Janet Jackson
It's a Sunday! What's shaking bacon? I started the day off at 4:30am looking in on Chris and getting him settled. Elise is not in her cave this morning and she is not making a sound. She will be up soon to care for Chris. Any plans for today?
The coffee is good this morning and we are going out for breakfast at the "Egg Connection" can you say pigs in a blanket? I can and will for sure.
It is a sad day here in the Old Pueblo, yes it is. Our "Wildcats" got spanked by "Oregon" 49 to 0. Yes, spanked and not the good kind, eh? They had so many chances to win this one but it was not to be. We will win our next game for sure. Go Cats!
Elise prepared a great tailgate dinner last night. We had cheese crisps, tamales, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, and a few cervezas to wash it all down. Great meal!
John will be here this evening to care for Chris. We may go out for a light snack this evening, we will see how the day shapes up.
You have a great Sunday and stay safe. Here is a bit more about our stay-cation. Peace out! Enjoy the pics! Oops I forgot to mention that Elise and I went to the DDC yesterday morning after breakfast at Gus Balones. We did not win big but we had a great time. We both needed the change of scenery especially me. It was a lot of fun. Elise is one smart lady who looks after me with all of her heart.
Later........Jessie and Elise
Tiger, Marcie, Jet stay safe.
Liz, you are in our prayers.
Loraine, what is new?
Jane and John, have a good day.
Shoo and Stu, wake up.
Bobby, thanks for looking after Chris last night.
Rosie, thank you for your kind words of support. I will keep an eye out for the snail mail.
Sheila, did you receive the CD we sent to you?
15 Sept 12
We got up at 7:00am, Bobby got up at 8:00am, what was up with that? We got dressed and I went outside and I got a fire started in the fire pit.
I tossed the grill grate over the fire pit and we began to prepare breakfast. I scrambled and cooked a dozen eggs, crisp bacon, fried potatoes, and tortillas all on the fire pit. I even put the coffee pot on the grill and so we could have some cowboy coffee.
It was delicious, yes it was. Their is something about cooking up a mess of vittles in the the open air of the woods that gives it a taste that is beyond describing. You just eat and eat and (burp) excuse me it is so good. Elise and Bobby shared an avocado. We also had salsa and jalapenos too!
After we got our grub on we cleaned up the area. We then took a walk heading for a spot called the "Bathtub". It is a very nice morning and a little bit chilly but it feels good and fresh.
As we walked along we all of a sudden had some company. Yes, we had a fellow hiker. It was a bear, yes I said a bear. I named him "Boo Boo". We stopped short when we saw him and he gave us a look of (do I smell bacon?). He was not full grown but big enough. We took photos of him and he started to move on into the trees, but he kept an eye on us and we on him. I was wondering where the Momma bear was because I thought that she would not be too far away. Or maybe he was out with (Yogi) looking for a picnic basket.
Our fellow hiker disappeared so we continued our hike, but with eyes and ears wide open. We got to the "Bathtub" and we rested and took a few pics. I made of movie of Elise and Bobby while we were there. We ran into a couple with there dog who were hiking in the wood as well. We headed back to the cabin because we were expecting Sheila at anytime.
We got back to the cabin and we decided to play a game of "
Wizard" why not? It was about 11:30am and as we played we knew that it was 5:00 o'clock somewhere so we had a cocktail and snacks. Sheila arrived shortly and it was good to see her with the pugs (Lucy and Diego).
We sat around and talked and before you know it was time for lunch. We had sandwiches, chips, and of course more cocktails. Earlier a lady stopped by the cabin to tell us that three bears have been sighted in the woods and for us to be careful. We did not tell her that we greeted (Boo Boo) earlier.
We all sat around the fire pit just relaxing and listening to music. Elise's sister Ann and Johnny showed up at around 3:30pm. It was good to see them. They joined in on the conversation and Johnny wanted to take a hike. Ann, Johnny and Elise took a short stroll.
They returned and the "Happy Hour" of should I say hours continued around the fire. Now it is time for the master chef (Me) to get dinner started. I grilled steaks and corn on the cob on the fire pit. Elise and Sheila prepared salad and beans in the cabin. I have to tell you it was delicious.
After dinner we cleaned up and we all sat around the fire pit with cocktails in hand. We continued to listen to music and relax. It was now about 8:30am and we decided to call it game over. What a great evening.

You are right! There is nothing better than breakfast cooking in the woods. I can almost smell it now. Again, the pictures of the forest and stream make me long to be out there.
Take care, my friend.
So glad we can enjoy the cabin. It is so good for me to have such great friends to share my favorite place on earth with!
Aww...I miss those fun trips to the cabin. Those pics bring back lots of great memories.
