Howdy!!

Hey!

We just got back from having a nice morning breakfast with Paula and Marty. It is always a pleasure to see them.

I thought it was Sunday isn't it? Well, it feels like a Monday. I say this because we went to wash a load of clothes for Chris and the washer went Kaput! So yes it is an early Monday around here.

Here is a bit more of our trip to Firenze. Enjoy!

13 Oct 12

We started the day off early at 9:30am. Elise was pestered all night long with a mosquitoes and one or two bite her hand several times. It is swollen up and red hot to the touch. If it does not get any better we will make a trip to the Farmacia across the street for help.

Well, the guys were out in force last night (they are Arabs), drinking beer and talking loudly. There were at least 20 empty beer bottles across the street this morning. They were drinking the large bottles of beer not the small ones.

What was funny about last night was that two of them got into an argument and they were yelling, screaming, and pushing each other around. What fun!! Also free of charge.

This morning two of the little old ladies who live above the street were complaining to the city street workers  about the many beer bottles. The workers were yelling back that "boys will be boys". The ladies were pissed!

It is now about 12:00pm and we went out walking around. We stopped in a church and admired the murals painted on the walls from the 1300's. Very cool! We ventured on and we stopped in a wine store and we bought 2 beers at $1.15 euros apiece and a bottle of Limoncello. I also bought a bag of potato chips as well. The bill came to $16 euros.

We dropped the beer, Limoncello and chips back at the B&B. We continued our walk. We stopped at a Trattoria Maso for soup and pizza. We like there pizza and I enjoyed there pasta fagiolo which is a bean soup with pasta. It was very good. Elise got a veggie soup that was very good too! We got it all down with a couple of beers.

After lunch we headed for the Leonardo da Vinci museum which is kinda off of the beaten path, but well worth the time. It showed replicas of many of his famous paintings and many of his inventions that were way before his time. He was a genius indeed. He also had a not so good side as well. He was arrested for sodomy as well. We were shocked to find out that bit of information. It is not taught in school for sure here in the USA.

We left the museum and it was raining, but fortunately we had our umbrellas with us. I had the honor of lugging them around in my backpack. Elise called me her "poor guy". We started looking for a store that sold mosquito repellent, nobody had what we needed.

We finally found what we were looking for in a Super Mercado. A can of Off so we bought it.We headed back to our B&B. We are now sitting and resting and drinking one of the beers we bought.

Later after we were well rested we decided it was time for some dinner. We were going to eat at Trattoria Contadina but it was closed. So we walked over to the patisserie where we had eaten panini's before. Elise had a ham and cheese panini and I had a chicken panini. We both had a beer with our light dinner.

After dinner we went to the phone to call John to see how things were going with Chris and to see if Chris's meds had been delivered and they had. That was a worry taken care of for sure. Thank goodness and thank Rosemary for calling the prescriptions in. Elise's hand is still swollen and red hot.

We returned to our B&B and we chilled and watched the city life from our window. Then we read our Kindles and we called it a night. Another good day in Firenze.

Elise checking out the many items in the Leonardi da Vinci museum.
