Howdy!

Howdy!

How is your Friday going so far? We are good here but it is heating up big time. We may hit 105 by Sunday. Whew!

Here is the final day of our trip to San Antonio. It was an adventure we have to tell you, but we got through it. Enjoy!

25 May 13

Elise is up and about. We are getting ready to head to the airport and turn in our rental car. It is really storming and raining buckets outside.

We are stuck in our hotel. The storm is a bad one and the roads any highways have turned into lakes. This is a bad one. I call Thrifty Rental Car to let them know that we would be late turning our car in. Elise went down to the lobby to pick us up some breakfast from the breakfast buffet.

It finally stopped raining and we check out of our room at 12:30. We proceed to turn the car back in. We caught the shuttle to the airport. Prior to us checking out of the hotel, I called the airline to find out about our flight that we missed. Come to find out it had been cancelled and we were set to catch a later flight this evening.

We spent 5 hours in the airport. Our new flight time was 5:30. Meanwhile we cruised the airport area. After several drinks and some Mexican food we left San Antonio headed for Dallas-Ft. Worth.

We got to Dallas-Ft. Worth. Come to find out that connecting flight was running late as well. So we cruised the airport area. We stopped for some pizza and a double shot of Jack and Coke. Man, those were some good drinks. I noticed a guy kept looking at Elise and I while we were enjoying our cocktail. Elise left to go to the bathroom and the guy came over to our table. He asked me if Elise was my wife and I replied yes that is correct. I asked why did he need to know. He said that he thought that it was because it was wonderful to see an inter-racial couple get along so well. He reveled that his wife is African-American and that they have been married for 22 years now. I thanked him for the compliment and he said that we got it right and we understand. He shook my hand and he went back to his seat. Elise returned and I filled her in and I pointed him out to her. I told her that you don't hear that everyday!

It is now 8:50. We board our plane and we are on our way to Tucson.

Our seating arrangements got all messed up and we were in the back of the plane and not sitting together. I was sitting in front of two teachers who talked the whole flight. Good thing I had my tablet with me. They talked about their job and the people who should not be teachers or principals. I needed one of those double shots of Jack at that point!

We arrived in Tucson at 9:15. Today was a real adventure to say the least. We got our luggage and we loaded up the Tacoma, and we headed home. It was good to be home. We had a fantastic vacation in San Antonio, Texas and we are looking forward to a return trip in the near future. It is 11:00 lights out!

Cheers!

San Antonio Day 4

Howdy!

Hey I am moving right along. Here is day 4 of our trip to San Antonio. Enjoy!

24 May 13

We got up at 8:30am. We hit the sheets last night at 6:30pm. Can you believe that? WooHoo!

We had leftovers for breakfast. Elise had an apple, banana, and two bites of peach cobbler. I had brisket and beans.

We left the hotel at 11:30. We arrived at the movie theater at 11:45. We went to see "Hangover 3". It was raunchy enough for our enjoyment. We ate popcorn and we drank sodas.

After the movie we drove downtown and we parked across from the "Market Place". It is the largest Mexican market in the US. It is pretty dead here because it is a steady rain falling.

We walked over to the "Wax Museum". We saw a 4D film and you became part of the movie. It was cool. We walked through the "Wax Museum" it was pretty good. We then went downstairs to a haunted cave like area. It sported warning signs to beware that sounds and frights are abound. It was not scary at all, but fun.

We then went back to the Riverwalk area and we walked around for a while. We stopped at the "Republic of Texas" for dinner. All that walking really works up an appetite for sure.

We both ordered tall margaritas. Elise ordered a T-bone, refried beans, and rice. I ordered a rib-eye and fries. It was all good!

We get our car and we head back to the Springhill Suites. It is still raining and we are a little soaked, but it feels good. We get back to our room and we plan what we are going to do tomorrow.

We will be leaving San Antonio early so we will be hitting the sheets real early. We have to be up by 7:00am to make our way to turn the car in and get to the airport. It has been a good day in San Antonio.

San Antonio Day 3

Hello,

What is up with you? We are good here in Mid-town Tucson. Here is what went on the 3rd day in San Antonio, Texas. Enjoy!

23 May 13

It is 9:30am. We're up ! (At least Elise is).

Elise is eating some of the leftover breakfast from yesterday. I am not hungry due to me eating ribs, etc last night around 9:00pm.

Elise just left to swim some laps in the pool. She has returned and she is hungry. We both had trouble sleeping last night.

We have planned our day and we are on our way to downtown San Antonio. We found a place to park our car and we began to pound the pavement.

We went to the Institute of Texas History. It is a very interesting place with lots of things to see and do. After that we went to the Tower of the Americas. It is like the Space Needle in Seattle, Washington.

We visited the top of the tower and the view was great but a little smoggy. After that we went inside of the 4D movie theater and that was fun.

We then walked back to the Riverwalk. We strolled the Riverwalk for a bit until the pangs of hunger attacked us. We were both are starving. So we look for a place to get our grub on.

We had dinner in a Mexican food restaurant. We decided to sit inside instead of outside on the Riverwalk. We had a good view of the crowd outside.

Elise ordered tacos, beans, rice of course I ordered enchiladas, that we as good as Leo's here in Tucson. Now that is saying something about the food, eh?
Of course we both had two margaritas that were outstanding. We are stuffed.

We waddled back to our car and we headed back to the Springhill Suites. Once again we are stuffed to the gills. We watched a little TV and we called it a night very early. Are we getting old or is it the margaritas? The two old farts are calling it a game over.

It's a Thirsty Thursday! What is up with you? I started the day off at 4:30am caring for Chris. Elise is not in her cave this morning so that means she will be up and out soon heading for the pool. Any plans for today?

The coffee is nice and hot and my chocolate, banana and whey smoothie is in the fridge. Angelica will be here this morning to care for Chris. Pam will be here later this morning to give Elise and Chris a massage.

Elise and I may go to the movies this afternoon after Rosemary arrives to care for Chris. Well, one more day and the "365 Days With Elise" for May will be completed. Only 10 more months to go. Can I complete this? Why yes I can, smile! So if you see Elise or come up with something to add to the book please get it to me.

We had a rousing evening of good food, plenty of red, and Mahjongg at Shoo and Stu's home last night. You could feel tension all evening long. It was fantastic!

Shoo and I have been taunting each other for days and that made the game more intense. Well, Shoo won one game, I won one game,Elise and Stu lost due to error play. Now that Shoo and I have tied a game apiece it is just going to get worse when we play the next game. The next meeting we will be playing for some green backs, lettuce, moohla, scratch, the Benjamin's!

It was a great evening of fun and friendship. Thank you Shoo, and Stu for a great evening. Well, I had better get back to Chris. I will post day 3 of our trip to San Antonio a little later this morning.

     Have a great Thirsty Thursday!

San Antonio Day 2

Howdy!

Hey, how is your day going? Things are good here in Tucson.

I got all of my errands taken care of and now things are starting to slow down just a tad, smile!

Here is what happened on our second day in San Antonio, Texas. Enjoy!

22 May 13

We slept until 8:45am. Can you believe that? Wow, that is way out of the norm for us, smile! At least Elise did, she has no idea when I got up and I am not telling.

I got showered and and all set for our trip to Austin, Texas. We went to have breakfast at a place right across the street called "Jim's" it is like an IHOP.

Elise ordered scrambled eggs with cheese, ham, bacon, hash browns, and toast. I ordered the same thing except I had pork chops. We had plenty of coffee as well.

We discovered there is a movie theater right next door, so we are going to go on Friday night.

We drove to Austin, Texas and we walked around the downtown area. It is a very funky town and Elise loved it. We stopped in the visitor's center to get info on the sights and winery locations. We stopped in Starbucks for a Frappacino, that was delicious.

We got into our car and we were off to explore. We had a little trouble finding the wineries, but once we did we were glad. We stopped at "Duchman" winery. We had a very nice wine tasting. So nice that we bought 4 bottles to take back home with us. All made from Texas grown grapes.

We are starting to get hungry. Wine will do that to you, let me tell you. We stopped in a place called the "Salt Lick". We were very glad that we did.

If you have ever watched the Travel Channel with Adam Rich, you know the Man vs Food guy.  Well, come to find out he had done a show here at the "Salt Lick". We knew right then we were in for a treat now, for sure.

We were seated and we looked over the menu. This is place is a winery as well, but with a twist. It is a BYOB as well. So I went out to the car and I got one of the reds that we just bought from "Duchmans".

We ordered our meals and at the suggestion of our waiter I ordered the "Thurman Platter". It was a combo of spare ribs, sausages, brisket, cold slaw, baked beans, Texas toast, and lots of extra sauce. It is delicious! Elise's order had bbq turkey that was excellent. We have died and gone to heaven. It was so good that I ordered a "Thurman Platter" to go. Yes, I did.

We waddled our way to the car, burping as we walked. We are on our way back to San Antonio. We got back to the Springhill Suites and we unloaded the car.

We needed walk a bit more so we went over to Target that is next to the hotel. We walked the aisles and Elise bought some bananas and I bought a banana smoothie for tomorrow's breakfast.

We are back in our room. We are watching TV and enjoying a Jack and Coke. I just had to dig into some of the "Thurman Platter" that we brought back with us. I also ordered a peach cobbler as well for dessert. We sampled it and it is delicious! I am going to have to diet big time when we get back to Tucson, and so will Elise.

We had to call it a night. It was a good day in Austin, Texas. Burp! Excuse me, please!!

The coffee is good and my banana, strawberry, blackberry and whey smoothie is looking good and extra thick with bits of ice chips all through it. Yummy!

I have to run  few errands this morning. I need to get the Kia Sport emissions done and renew the registration. I also have to stop by the lab to have some routine blood work done. I need to pick up some document covers for "365 Days With Elise" as well. The second month will be completed in a few days.

San Antonio Trip!

Sup?

How are you doing? We are doing OK.

Here is a bit about our wonderful trip to San Antonio, Texas. Enjoy!

21 May 13

We arrived in at the San Antonio airport at about 1:00pm. It was an uneventful flight. We picked up our luggage and we caught the Thrifty Car Rental shuttle bus to pick up our car.

We are driving a Dodge Avenger and it is pretty nice. The weather here is hot and humid. We checked into our room at the Springhill Suites. We are about 6 miles from the downtown area. My brother Herman has done it again for us. We have a very nice suite and we are located near everything. Thank you Herman.

We unload the car and we take a short break for a Jack and Coke to take the edge off. We were hungry so we went next door to the Jack in the Box. Elise ordered two tacos and a drink. I ordered a burger and fries with a smoothie. It was good.

We were both worried about how Tangye was doing and it put a damper on our trip. We contacted her husband several times a day to keep up to date on her condition.

We left to hotel at 2:45pm to get our bearing in San Antonio. We had our GPS to aid us. I think the heat and humidity affected it as well because a one point she was giving us some bad directions. So we relied on the folding map. Smile!

We parked the car in a parking lot in the downtown area. We walked along the Riverwalk and there is a lot of people here. We walked and walked and walked some more. We enjoyed it but it was starting to get too warm and sticky. I bet it is awful here in July and August.

We decide to see a movie at the "IMAX".  We saw what was billed as the truest presentation of the battle at the Alamo. It was very good, not like the one with John Wayne.

We walked some more and we decided to eat at "Landry's". We got a table right on the Riverwalk under a beautiful tree. Elise ordered a very dry martini. I ordered Mojito! Elise's came with a surprise that was not a good one. One of the birds (shat) on her shoulder. That is the past tense for (shit).

I told her to dip her napkin in some water and to clean it up, and to hope that it did not stain. YUK! Elise enjoyed her stuffed shrimp wrapped in bacon and jalapenos. The order also came with dirty rice.

I ordered fried fish, fries and grilled shrimp on a stick. I also had shrimp in a cheese sauce. It was all good and I was very hungry. Were is a smoothie when you need it!

We were feeding the ducks and a variety of other birds. They love onion rings, fries, and fish. They did not like olives or lettuce. We are stuffed to the gills.

We make it back to our car and we head back to the Springhill Suites. We stop in a liquor store and we picked up a bottle of Jack. We also picked up a fun thing to give to Jane and John. It is a little naughty, they will love it without a doubt.

We are back our room and we are relaxing, resting and enjoying a few Jack and Cokes. Our first day in San Antonio is just about to end.

Elise prepared chili for dinner that was very good. We watched "Weeds" with Chris. We are feeling a little bummed because the season is over.

I am caring for Chris this evening and Elise is catching up on her email. We hope that your day was a good one? Stay safe and have a better tomorrow.
