Good Night

Good Night

Well, another day had ended and it has been a pretty good one. Elise and I had a nice breakfast this morning at Broadway Cafe, but we both felt an emptiness because Mum is usually with us, and she was in spirit. It is going to take a long time before we get over Mum not sitting next to us and complaining that the coffee is too cold.

We spent a quite day at home watching movies with Chris until Rosemary arrived to care for him this evening. Elise fixed BLT's and we continued to watch movies and for dessert we had banana splits and they were great. I haven't had one of those since I was a kid, wow!

Well, as for Mum's celebration it was a success and we know that Mum was pleased. We had around 60 to 65 people attend and the house was full. Some arrived early to help arrange things and to help out. Paula and Marty brought two cakes that were to hurt yourself for. One was a decadent chocolate and the other was a carrot cake that was gluten-free and let me tell you it was the best. Thank you Paula and Marty. Vickie brought two cheesecake, one with blueberry topping and the other with cherry topping. Thank you Vickie.

Everyone mingled and talked about Mum and her life and that is exactly what she wanted to happen. Susie was here all the way from Saudi Arabia and her brother Roy was here from Washington state. It was good to see them. All of the family was here to include Elise's sister Ann and crew. We want to thank Janice for taking charge and gathering people up to come into the family room so we could begin the sharing talks. Janice rung the bell and she gave the first sharing and I followed her and I rung to bell for the next person to come up and share. Many, many good things were said about Mum and a few things were said that would make a sailor blush about Mum. Mum loved her life and she enjoyed every moment of it.

We had plenty of beer, wine, soda, water, liquor and I was in charge of the Margarita machine and it was a hit. I had to make two batches of Margarita's. It was supposed to end at 4:00pm but it carried on until around 6:00pm and that was just fine. Elise and I want to thank Angelica and Jose for going way beyond by making Chimi's, salsa, cheese nachos, jalapenos, it was a hit and we appreciate the hard work that they put into it. Also to Marv for bringing by trays of snacks that were wonderful. So many people and so many friends helped to make Mum's celebration a success. Thank you everyone!

Above are a few photo of the people who attended. I will post more pics daily until all of the ones that Elise picked are posted. Have a great evening and beware tomorrow is Monday.

Cheers............
I forgot to mention we also had a case of champagne to toast to Mum during the sharing. Thank you Rosemary and Marty for helping me get the bottles open and poured and delivered to our guests.
