Oh NO! It's a Monday!

Good Morning

Mood: Cautious

Music listening to: Papa Don't Take No Mess by James Brown (classic R&B)

Lookout it's a Monday! How are you doing? I started the day off at 5:00am caring for Chris. Elise is still sawing logs but she will start her day as soon as she gets a splinter, smile. Any plans for today?

I have to run a couple of errands this morning and that is about it. We had a very nice breakfast at Alice's yesterday, but we had a SNAFU after breakfast. We got into the Kia and it would not start. The first thing that came out o my mouth was " Now what is this". I asked a guy at Alice's if the could give me a jump and he did, and I thanked him. I drove Elise home and I went to Sears to get a Die Hard. The old battery was really bad so it had to be replaced. The heat here is very bad on car batteries. Now that should have happened today, don't you think?

I returned home and I did a few chores around the house and then we put Chris up on the standing frame after his Bio treatment. Later we watched DVD's and rested until Rosemary arrived to care for Chris. We then left for Zemam's to meet up with Paula and Marty and his cousin Marvin. The food was excellent and really spiced up this time. Hmmmm, it was good.

We returned home and we watched more DVD's until Rosemary left for the night. I checked on Chris and it was game over. A very good day, except for the dead battery. Well, here is what happened on our stay-cation to Scottsdale/Tempe/Mesa. Have a great day and beware it is still a Monday!

Later.........

Tiger, Marcie, Jet have a good day.

Jane and John, stay safe.

Paula and Marty, thank you for a wonderful evening.

Shoo Shoo and Stu, what is up?

Joe and Mary, how are you? Do you live near Zemans Ethiopian restaurant?

Mary and Bob, have a good day.

Flo and John, what are you up to?

Amanda and Lloyd, thank you so very much for a fantastic evening in Mesa, AZ.

9-Aug-11

We left home heading for Scottsdale at around 9:00am. Elise took the day off from playing bridge so we could stop for breakfast at Gus Balone's. We grubbed up well as usual there. Elise had a ham steak, eggs, and potatoes. I had pork chops, eggs, and potatoes. We both had gallons of coffee. After breakfast we went to up our kitchen clock that was put into the shop to be repaired to the tune of $75.00. We took the clock back home and then we headed for Nancy and Jeff's to pick up some books that Elise and loaned her. After spending a few minutes with Nancy we headed for Scottsdale.

We got stuck in traffic on highway 101 due to an accident, but we were content because we were listening to a book on CD. We arrived at the Residence Inn at around 2:30pm. It is a very nice place and once again thanks to my brother Herman the rate we good was unbelievable. Thank you Herman! After we got settled in we went looking for a CVS or a Walgreen's to buy water, ice and a few personal items for me.

We returned to our room we started to get our relax on. We were looking over movies to see which one that we would see tomorrow. We chose "The Help". We had a few Jack and Cokes and we played Abundante on the laptop for a while. at around 5:00pm we went to the lobby for social happy hour. We had tostados, wine and small dessert snacks. It was very good and that was our dinner, as a matter of fact we were stuffed. Maybe we had too many jalapenos? Not you can never have too many of those, smile. We returned to our room and jumped into our pj's and we watched TV fro a while and then it was lights out. A very good day.

10-Aug-11

I got up at 9:00am and Elise got up at 9:30am. We missed breakfast in the lobby so Elise got up and hit the exercise room. She spent some time on the treadmill, and I watched the news and I was on the laptop. We got cleaned up and dressed and we headed for the mall, we stopped at Micky D's for a quick bite to eat. We went to the theater and we watched "The Help". It is a very good movie with many lessons in it and the acting was excellent and it was well cast. After the movie we went over to Sports ?Authority so Elise could buy a new swimsuit and she did bought two.

We returned to our room and we just relaxed totally. At around 5:30pm Sara and Jesse arrived at the Residence Inn. We had made plans to go out for dinner with them. Sara is Elise's niece and Jesse is her boyfriend. We went across the street to a place called "The Blue Wasabi" a sushi and martini bar. I have to tell you that when it comes to sushi there is a limit as to what I will eat. This place was outstanding and for me to say that about sushi is a rare,no pun intended!

Here is what we had:

We had martini's of course, Jesse did not have one,but he sampled ours.

Pork Pot stickers- Seared and steamed pork dumplings with a sesame ginger soy dipping sauce.

Miso soup

Dirty Sanchez- Eel,avocado, krab, jalapeno and cream cheese, tempura'd with a sweet soy glaze.

Kaboom- California roll topped with baked shrimp dynamite.

Marilyn Monroll- Sashimi sliced tuna, yellowtail and salmon, spicy tuna, krab mix, avocado, cucumber wrapped in pink soy paper.

Traditional sushi, salmon, and tuna.

What a meal,eh? We were joined by Zack, Sara's brother and we were glad to see him and to hear about what has been going on in L.A. A great evening. We returned to our room and we listened to more of the book on CD before calling it game over.

11-Aug-11

Today is Chris's Birthday . Happy Birthday Chris! We celebrated his birthday prior to our leaving for Scottsdale. I woke up at around 6:00am and I told Elise that I was headed for he pool. It was a bit early for Elise but I had to let her know that I was leaving. I little while later Elise joined me in the pool and she swam for about a quarter of a mile. She would have swam more but she forgot to bring here goggles and the water had started to bother her eyes. We both got out of the pool and into the jacuzzi to relax and it was great.

We returned to our room and got showered and dressed and we went to the lobby for breakfast. They really do put out a spread. Elise had oatmeal and I had eggs and potatoes, a sausage egg muffin with cheese, a plain English muffin with sausage and jam. Delicious! Later we went to the "Talking Stick" casino. We spent about two hours there and we did not win lost, bit it was fun. On the way back to the hotel we stopped at Albertson's and Target to pick a few things to include a bottle of vino and more water.

We are back at the hotel and we are getting ready to spend the evening with Amanda and Lloyd in Mesa, AZ. We were on the road and again we ran into traffic again due to two wrecks. Elise called Lloyd to let him know that we were on the way and that we would be a few minutes late. We arrived and it was a pleasure to see them again. We sat around eating guacamole and chips and we a very good dry Rose' to enhance our conversations.

Amanda and Lloyd are wonderful hosts and do they put out a spread. I have to tell you the food channel has nothing on them, smile! We had twice baked potatoes, salad, Lloyd grilled some huge Porterhouse steaks that were five star. We also consumed at least four bottles of red,but who was counting, eh? Mandy fixed a dessert that you could not resist. It was sorbet, with berries and a liquor sauce over the top, man that was good. At that point we were in a stupor. Elise glanced at her watch and it was almost 10:00pm, wow time just flew by. What a great evening, thank you Amanda and Lloyd, wow it was fantastic. We returned to our hotel and we just chilled and we listened to the book on CD for a short while before we called it a night.

12-Aug-11

I got up at around 7:30am and Elise was still counting zzzzz's. Elise got up at around 8:45am and it was too late to hit the lobby for breakfast, so Elise hit the gym to do 45 minutes of cardio. We began to get things packed up for our drive back to Tucson. Elise got showered and for breakfast she had a banana and some prunes. I had a a leftover eggs from Gus Balone's. We checked out and we hit the road for Tucson. This has been a very relaxing stay-cation and what fun it was. We arrived back in Tucson and we unpacked the Tacoma and we went to see the Rise of the Planet of the Apes" it was very good. After that we hit Oregano's for a bottle of red and a thin crust pizza. We also had a Bellini for dessert as well to officially end our stay-cation.

The photos are jut a few from stay in Scottsdale.
