It's another Monday! How are you? I started the day off at 5:00am caring for Chris. Elise is still cruising down Speedway this morning but as soon as she wakes up she will be headed for Grant. Any plans for today?

Well, the coffee is good and I am thinking about a sausage biscuit this morning. I have to run a few errands this morning but other than that no plans for this Monday. I am coming down with something that started yesterday evening and I hope that I get rid of it soon.

We had a very nice breakfast with Paula and Marty at Teresa's and the food was excellent. It is always a pleasure to spend time with them. We visited Mum before we went to the movies last night and she is getting better daily. While we were there Ann, Eddie and Jonny arrived to see Mum as well. Elise and I left for the movies to see " Dilemma" with Vince Vaughn and Kevin James, it was very funny.

We returned home and Elise hit the sheets to read and I watched TV until Rosemary left for the night. I checked on Chris and I called it a night as well. Have a good day today and stay safe. Here is a what we did on our staycation to Douglas and Bisbee.

Staycation to Douglas and Bisbee:

19 Jan 11

When the caregiver arrived we went to Gus Balones for breakfast. Elise had ham, scrambled eggs, taters. I had pork chops, eggs, toast and taters. We both had plenty of coffee, and we got a to go box to take the toast and pork chops with us to Douglas. We listened to a book on tape while we were on the road and it is pretty good.

We arrived at the Best Western in Douglas and we settled in with a few Jack and cokes, popcorn and we played computer games. At around 5:30pm we left for Bisbee were we met Ann, Eddie, Erik and Jonny for dinner at a place called Santiago's for Mexican food and margaritas. The food was good quite different then the usual Mexican fare. Elise had pork tacos, rice and beans. I had Enchiladas Suisas served with green tomatilla salsa. The first margarita we had was called"Wabarita" it was made with Cabo Wabo tequila and blue curacao. A little later Elise and I shared a "Hornitoad" margarita it was a bit sweet. After dinner we headed back to Douglas and we arrived we settled in for the night.

20-Jan-11

We did not wake up until 9:30am. Can you believe that? Elise did not like the pillows but the bed was great and so is the room. We missed the breakfast here at the hotel so we walked over to Denny's and we used our room key to get 15% of of the bill because we were stay at the Best Western.

Elise got the "Moons over my Hammy" it is a omelet with ham and cheese. I got the chicken fried steak, eggs and taters. The meal was very good. After breakfast we took a long walk around the area. We went to the old train depot(which is now the police department. Then we walked up 14th St past Sheila's house and up to Elise's old childhood home. Elise said it sure looks different now.

Then we walked to 10th St and into the downtown area to see of the Grand restaurant is still open and it is. We returned to the hotel we were exhausted. We played computer games for several hours and we suck at the game (Abundante). maybe it was the Jack and popcorn causing the problem, eh?

At around 6:00pm we drove over to the Gadsden Hotel to eat dinner. Elise had grilled tilapia, baked potato. I had fried catfish, mashed potatoes. It was pretty good along with Jack and coke. After dinner we went into the bar and we worked on a crossword puzzle and a Sudoku while we waited for Shelia to arrive. At 7:30pm Sheila arrived with Teresa and a cousin of Sheila's and her husband. They ordered drinks and we talked for at least an hour and them we returned to the hotel. We may visit Sheila's office tomorrow morning before we return to Tucson. We tried to get the Wildcats basketball game on the TV but it was not available there. A good thing I guess because they got beat badly. So we listened to our book on tape and then we called it a night.

21 Jan 11

After we got ourselves together we went back top Denny's for breakfast again. Elise had chorizo and eggs. I had a special deal of bacon, sausages, ham and eggs. We returned to our room and we got our things together and we checked out of the Best Western. We went to Sheila's office to see it and it is very nice and it is in the school where Elise attended the 5th and 6th grade. We are now headed home and we are listening to the book on tape. We arrived home and we unpacked the Tacoma and we went to the movies to see "True Grit" and it was very, very good. After the movie we went to the Outback for dinner and it was packed with people. After dinner we returned home and that ended a fun trip to Douglas and Bisbee. Now we are planning our next staycation for somewhere here in Tucson.

The photo above is of Elise's childhood home in Douglas, AZ.
