Good Evening

Good Night

It has been a very hectic day let me tell you. Mum has been admitted into hospital. She is in TMC room number 738. After a few test were done it was made known that the problem is not her heart again and she does not have pneumonia but they are going to do further test of her lungs.

She was given a IV steroid while I was with her in the ER and it took a while before it kicked in to help her breath better. It has also been said that it may have been the environment in the skilled nursing section of the Forum that caused the problem or her Asthma may have flair up badly. Her BP this morning was 180/110 and that is not good at all, but it could have been caused by the anxiety to breath. While I was with her in the ER it was 149/70 and it fluctuated up and down.

Elise and Ann are back at the skilled nursing getting things that Mum said that she needed with her. Mum says that she is hungry and that is always a good sign. I want to thank everyone for you very kind emails and prayers for Mum, she appreciates every one of them. I will keep you informed of her progress as I get it. Thank you all again.

Have a wonderful evening.

Beware It's A Monday!

Good Morning

Mood: Worried

Music listening to: I Wanna by Keith Sweat

How are you? It is a Monday be careful out there. I started the day off at 5:30am caring for Chris. Elise is floating on a cloud this morning and it looks like those clouds have some rain in them. Any plans for today?

I am going to visit Mum this morning early. I saw her yesterday a couple of times and I am starting to worry about her. Mum breathing has taken a turn and she is having a hard time getting air. Her breathing is very labored and she is on oxygen all of the time. Her appetite has dwindled and her energy level has fallen.

Elise and I went to breakfast yesterday at the Hungry Fox and the food was very good. Later in the evening we finished watching a DVD called Elizabeth the First starring Helen Miran and it was excellent. After that we left to visit Mum for a short while and while we were there, Ann, Eddie, Erik, Jonny, Cathy and Susan came by for a visit.

Elise and I left for the movies to see The Last Three Days starring Russell Crow and it was very good with a lot of twists and turns. We also stopped by Zemams to set up a additional reservation for next month with Loraine and Jim. We returned home and I checked on Chris and we called it a night. Well, I had better get back to Chris. Have a good day and stay safe.

Later..................

Tiger, Marcie, Jet, let's get a move on.

Steph, how are you?

JT, we have not heard anything from you regarding your apartment.

Shoo Shoo, have a good day.

Flo and John, stay safe.

Mood: Cheerful

Music listening to: Be My Candy Man

How are you? I started the day off at 5:15am looking in on Chris and getting him settled. Elise is still counting coyotes this morning but as soon as one gives her a growl or two she will be up to start her day. Elise is caring for Chris this morning.

The coffee is good and I am looking a danish this morning. Mum is doing better everyday and her appetite is very good. When it comes to getting up to walk around she is not too keen on that idea, but she has to do it. We will pay her a visit today to see how things are going and to see if she needs anything. Ann will be here today to visit her as well. Mum is still in rehab, but she has been moved into a different room and she is the only one in the room right now.

Elise and I are going out for breakfast at the "Hungry Fox" the eatery that is known for it's double yolked eggs. After Rosemary arrives this evening we may go to the movies to see "Valentines Day". We I had better get myself another cup of coffee and attack this danish. Have a great Sunday and enjoy it because tomorrow is Monday.

Later................

Tiger,Marcie, Jet what is up sisters?

Loraine, No Mum is still in the Forum but she has moved to a different room in the skilled nursing area, due to something in the old room was causing her breathing problems.

The coffee is good and I am thinking about a slice of toast or two to go along with it. I am going to visit Mum this morning while Elise is caring for Chris. She has moved into a different room as of yesterday due to something in her old room was causing her to have breathing problems. We will see it the move clears that up.

Elise and I had a very nice dinner out last night at Cody's Beef and Bean. We shared a carafe of Burgundy and we both had salads prior to our entree. We both ordered the T-Bone special. Elise got a baked potato with hers and I got the steak fries. It was a very good eat, let me tell you. We really like going to Cody's.

We visited Mum a couple of times yesterday and she is doing well and she expressed that she is ready to get back to her apartment. Elise and I went to the movies to see the "Fighter" and it was very, very good. Great acting and some very tough roles to play. It is a must see.

After the movies we returned home and Elise prepared dinner. We had refried beans, tamales, tomatoes, lettuce, jalapenos and salsa. We got it all down with a couple of beers. We enjoyed the meal while watching the Wildcats play UCLA and yes we won, Go Cats! It was a good game.

Music listening to: I Wanna Be With You by Mary J. Blige

How are you? I started the day off at 5:20am caring for Chris. Elise is still counting those zzzz's but she will be up and busting a move very soon. Any plans for today? The coffee is very good this morning and it feels very good on my slight sore throat. Well, I am pretty much back to 100% except for a slight cough and sore throat. As a matter of fact I am feeling a little frisky and looking for trouble. Smile!

Elise and I visited Mum and she is getting better daily, but she had a breathing problem yesterday during PT. So Elise hog-tied the MD and he prescribed a med for her and we will see Mum today to see if it worked or not. Elise and I may go to the movies this afternoon to see the "Fighter" it has gotten great reviews and nominations as well. Rosemary will be here this afternoon to care for Chris.

Elise prepared dinner last night and it was fantastic. She but on the crock pot early yesterday morning and she loaded it up with sliced onions, bay leafs and other seasonings. Then she put in a bag of local beans that Paula and Marty gave us. Let me tell you the whole house was very aromatic and we were anticipating a true delight and we were not let down.

The beans were great and Elise fixed some cornbread to go along with it and we hurt ourselves eating it. We got it down with a few grapefruit and vodka cocktails, couldn't hurt right? Thank you Paula and Marty for such a great treat!

We also heard from my nephew Jerome and Keshia today. We were informed about their upcoming travel plans and the best news was that they are thinking about starting a family in the near future. This news made his uncle and auntie very happy and hopeful. Well, I had better get busy and check on Chris. Have a a great day and stay safe.

Hump Day!!!

Good Morning

Mood: Dragging

Music listening to: Shining Star by Earth, Wind and Fire

It's a Hump Day!! How are you? I started the day off at 5:15am caring for Chris. Well I really started the day off at midnight listening to the dogs barking like crazy. So I got up to have a look and they were barking at a city truck doing some work on the street. So I had to put them into the shed to get them quiet so I could return to the sheets.

As soon as I did I was thinking of a tune that goes a bit like this: For heaven sake now I am totally awake, so now what am I going to do. All of a sudden my stomach began to shake and quake, so I grabbed a magazine or two and I skipped to the loo. This whole time Elise was in a cone of silence just purring away and she still is right now, but she will be up soon. Smile!

Rosemary will be here this afternoon to care for Chris and we may go to the movies later if I feel up to it. We will also visit with Mum as well. How about you, any plans for this Hump Day? Well, I had better check on Chris. Have a good one.

Later............

Tiger, Marcie, Jet let's get to stepping.

Loraine, have a good one.

Shoo Shoo, I hope that you are not getting this thing that is going around.

Chris and I watched a movie today on Netflix called "Carriers" and it was pretty good and Chris was glued to the screen. Elise prepared soup for dinner and that was very good. We also watched a few episodes of Mash with Chris. Elise is working on Genealogy right now and I am caring for Chris.

Well, have a good evening and sleep well.

It's another Monday! How are you? I started the day off at 5:00am caring for Chris. Elise is still cruising down Speedway this morning but as soon as she wakes up she will be headed for Grant. Any plans for today?

Well, the coffee is good and I am thinking about a sausage biscuit this morning. I have to run a few errands this morning but other than that no plans for this Monday. I am coming down with something that started yesterday evening and I hope that I get rid of it soon.

We had a very nice breakfast with Paula and Marty at Teresa's and the food was excellent. It is always a pleasure to spend time with them. We visited Mum before we went to the movies last night and she is getting better daily. While we were there Ann, Eddie and Jonny arrived to see Mum as well. Elise and I left for the movies to see " Dilemma" with Vince Vaughn and Kevin James, it was very funny.

We returned home and Elise hit the sheets to read and I watched TV until Rosemary left for the night. I checked on Chris and I called it a night as well. Have a good day today and stay safe. Here is a what we did on our staycation to Douglas and Bisbee.

Herman did you get our email about our staycation for February?

Staycation to Douglas and Bisbee:

19 Jan 11

When the caregiver arrived we went to Gus Balones for breakfast. Elise had ham, scrambled eggs, taters. I had pork chops, eggs, toast and taters. We both had plenty of coffee, and we got a to go box to take the toast and pork chops with us to Douglas. We listened to a book on tape while we were on the road and it is pretty good.

We arrived at the Best Western in Douglas and we settled in with a few Jack and cokes, popcorn and we played computer games. At around 5:30pm we left for Bisbee were we met Ann, Eddie, Erik and Jonny for dinner at a place called Santiago's for Mexican food and margaritas. The food was good quite different then the usual Mexican fare. Elise had pork tacos, rice and beans. I had Enchiladas Suisas served with green tomatilla salsa. The first margarita we had was called"Wabarita" it was made with Cabo Wabo tequila and blue curacao. A little later Elise and I shared a "Hornitoad" margarita it was a bit sweet. After dinner we headed back to Douglas and we arrived we settled in for the night.

20-Jan-11

We did not wake up until 9:30am. Can you believe that? Elise did not like the pillows but the bed was great and so is the room. We missed the breakfast here at the hotel so we walked over to Denny's and we used our room key to get 15% of of the bill because we were stay at the Best Western.

Elise got the "Moons over my Hammy" it is a omelet with ham and cheese. I got the chicken fried steak, eggs and taters. The meal was very good. After breakfast we took a long walk around the area. We went to the old train depot(which is now the police department. Then we walked up 14th St past Sheila's house and up to Elise's old childhood home. Elise said it sure looks different now.

Then we walked to 10th St and into the downtown area to see of the Grand restaurant is still open and it is. We returned to the hotel we were exhausted. We played computer games for several hours and we suck at the game (Abundante). maybe it was the Jack and popcorn causing the problem, eh?

At around 6:00pm we drove over to the Gadsden Hotel to eat dinner. Elise had grilled tilapia, baked potato. I had fried catfish, mashed potatoes. It was pretty good along with Jack and coke. After dinner we went into the bar and we worked on a crossword puzzle and a Sudoku while we waited for Shelia to arrive. At 7:30pm Sheila arrived with Teresa and a cousin of Sheila's and her husband. They ordered drinks and we talked for at least an hour and them we returned to the hotel. We may visit Sheila's office tomorrow morning before we return to Tucson. We tried to get the Wildcats basketball game on the TV but it was not available there. A good thing I guess because they got beat badly. So we listened to our book on tape and then we called it a night.

21 Jan 11

After we got ourselves together we went back top Denny's for breakfast again. Elise had chorizo and eggs. I had a special deal of bacon, sausages, ham and eggs. We returned to our room and we got our things together and we checked out of the Best Western. We went to Sheila's office to see it and it is very nice and it is in the school where Elise attended the 5th and 6th grade. We are now headed home and we are listening to the book on tape. We arrived home and we unpacked the Tacoma and we went to the movies to see "True Grit" and it was very, very good. After the movie we went to the Outback for dinner and it was packed with people. After dinner we returned home and that ended a fun trip to Douglas and Bisbee. Now we are planning our next staycation for somewhere here in Tucson.

The photo above is of Elise's childhood home in Douglas, AZ.

Good Night

Good Night,

Well, the day has come to an end. I am really exhausted today due to the lack of sleep. I rested as much as I could today and that helped a little bit. I am caring for Chris this evening and Elise at the Forum visiting her Mom.

Well, I had better get back to Chris. Have a good evening.

Cheers.............

Tiger, glad that things went well at the docs.

Marcie, Jet, sleep well.

It's a Monday!

Good Morning

Mood: Awake

It's a Monday Beware! How are you doing? Yes, it's early about 1:00am and I cannot get to sleep. I checked on Chris after Rosemary left for the night at around 9:30pm and I called it a night. I hit the sheets and I read for a bit and so did Elise.

About 9:50pm or so Elise's sister Ann,Eddie and Johnny rung the doorbell. They are spending the night with us. Elise got up to let them in and she stayed up with them for a short while. They were talking and going on and the dogs were barking at them as well. Elise returned but they continued to talk and Johnny was laughing and being a bit to loud. So I am awake with the beginnings of a headache and so I just layed there until finally they decided to hit the sheets. Now I am totally awake and here I am at 1:15am Monday morning. Elise has got her engine running full steam ahead, smile.

We had a great time at dinner with Paula and Marty. The food was great and the Injera was the best that we have ever had there. We ate every bit of the food and we downed two bottles of red. After dinner Elise and I went to visit Mum at the Forum. She was awake and relaxing. Elise gave her some of the Injera and Mum loved it and she asked where was the chicken to go along with it. That is a good sign that she is getting better slowly.

We returned home and I watched TV while Elise ordered books online and looked over her Netflix order listing to add on movie titles that we got from Paula and Marty. Well, I think I will watch some TV for a while. I have to be up in a few hours anyway. Have a good Monday and be careful out there.

Later.................

Mood: Frisky

Music listening to: Tea a meditation CD

How are things going? Elise and I started the day off at 6:00am looking in on Chris and getting him settled so he can start his day. The coffee is good this morning and I am on my second cup already. Any plans for today?

Elise and I are going out for breakfast this morning at the Egg Connection one of our favorite places. It is going to feel weird not having Mum along with us for breakfast. Later in the evening we will meet up with Paula and Marty for dinner at Zemems Ethiopian, again without Mum so different.

We had a very nice day yesterday. We had dinner at Rio Cafe and let me tell you the food was out of sight. We shared a bottle of red from Italy that was excellent. Elise had the tilapia tacos, rice, and veggies, and salsa. I had the coconut crusted pork chop, mashed potatoes, and rolls. We also shared Zaragosa dates. They are dates wrapped in bacon and oh my goodness it is so good with a side of applesauce to dip them in. For dessert we shared a chocolate mousse with a raspberry sauce and whipped cream with a hint of spicy pepper. A dinner fit for kings. We topped it off with a few cups of coffee.

After dinner we stopped to visit with Mum for a while before we went to the Invisible Theatre at the Berger. We saw the one man show called " My Mother's is Italian, My Father is Jewish and I am in Therapy. It was hilarious and our stomach's were hurting from laughing so hard. He got a well deserved standing ovation for his performance. The show was sold out and it is also sold out for this evening showing as well. It was very good.

We returned home and I checked on Chris while Elise hit the sheets to read for a while. Chris is doing just fine and I believe that I heard a fog horn or two coming from his direction. It has been a good day and we called it game over. Have a great Sunday and enjoy and get ready for well, Monday!

Later...................

Tiger, Marcie, Jet, have a great day.

How are you? I started the day off at 6:00am looking in on Chris. Yes, that's right 6:00am, am I late or what? As a matter of fact Elise was up with me. Now you know that something is out of whack now, eh?

Well, it is not. It was Elise's idea for me to start my day off at 6:00am from now on. What do you think? Elise is caring for Chris this morning as soon as she returns from her workout. Hey the coffee is good and hot and I am going for another cup.

We visited Mum last night after Marv arrived to care for Chris. She is doing OK, but the therapy is really wearing her out. She has therapy twice a day but yesterday she only had it once and it made her tired. Mum needs to have it twice a day and she needs to get up and walk more. You have to remember that Mum is in charge and she is called ( Sarge) because she can give out those orders with expertise and vigor, smile.

Elise and I went to the Loft last night to see " Made In Dagenham" and it was excellent and the theatre was just about packed. We recommend this movie very much. Prior to going to the movies Elise fixed BLT's for dinner and we downed them with grapefruit and vodka, and a fantastic martini. Great meal! We are at the end of Prime Suspect and we want more,it is so good.

We are going to watch our Wildcats play ASU in basketball this afternoon. Go Cat's! JT will be cheering for ASU, smile. Later in the evening after Rosemary arrives to care for Chris we are going to dinner at the Rio Cafe and then to the Berger to see a one man play presented by the Invisible Theatre called " My Mother's Italian, My Father's Jewish and I'm in Therapy. It should be very good and funny.

Well, I had better get that second cup of coffee and get this day rolling along. Have a great day.

We're Back

Howdy!

We are back from Chris's doctors appointment, and all is well. Elise is out taking a walk already. I am in need of another cup of coffee so I am going to take care of that in a few minutes.

We went to visit Mum yesterday and she is doing OK. We also sat in on her first therapy session and she did very well. While we wee there her grandson Erik stopped by to see her and he got to participate in one of the therapy highlights with her and she enjoyed that.

After that we took her back to her room and got her back in bed. Mum is going to need to get up as much as she can so that she can walk around and use those muscles. She is not to happy about it but if she wants to get back to her apartment and be independent it is a must.

Elise and I left and we went to the movies to see " Social Network" and it was very good. It is about the creation of Facebook. This evening after Marv arrives to care for Chris we are going to go to the Loft to see " Made In Dagenham" we saw the previews and it looked good. It also got some very good reviews.

Well, I had better get to it. Have a great Friday.

Cheers.................

Chris will be getting a massage this morning when Donna arrives. Later in the afternoon we are going to the movies to see "True Grit" finally because we have not had the time to do so. Have you seen it?

Elise prepared a wonderful dinner last night. We had grilled Italian sausages in spaghetti, with Parmesan cheese and of course a few glasses of red. We also watched a DVD that was very good as well, and we watched another episode of Prime Suspect.

Well, we went to the hospital yesterday to pickup Mum and take her back to the her home at the Forum. She is now in the skilled nursing area for about two weeks and then she will go back to her own apartment if all goes well. She is really upbeat and taking names and giving orders, smile. Before dinner we went to see how she was doing and she is doing well. She was glad to see us and we went over her menus for the next week. She is up and walking and getting around pretty good. Before we left to return home she ordered both of us to give her a hug before we left. We had to snap to attention and do as we were ordered, smile.

Well, I had better get Chris ready for his day of massage and luxury. Have a great Thursday and enjoy.

Hump Day!!

Good Morning

Mood: Confident

Music listening to: Little Red Corvette by Prince

Happy Hump Day! I started the day off at 5:45am caring for Chris. A late start for me but I need to catch up on my sleep. Elise has entered the Indy 500 and her engine is revving up nicely. She will be collecting the checkered flag very soon at the speed she is going, and then she will start her day. Any plans for today?

The coffee is very good this morning and I will have a grapefruit for breakfast. Chris is going to be visited this morning by his favorite case manager so I have to get him ready for their arm wrestling match.

After Rosemary arrives this afternoon Elise and I will be at the hospital checking Mum out and taking her to her home at the Forum. She will not be going back to her apartment at the Forum but to the skilled nursing section there. She may be there for two weeks or so and then she will return to her apartment.

Well, I had better shake a leg and get busy. Have a great Hump Day and be careful out there. Pres. Obama will be here in the Old Pueblo today and you can imagine the amount of security that will be in place.

Later...........

Tiger, Marcie, Jet wake up sisters.

Loraine, stay safe.

Jane and John, anything special going on today?

Shoo Shoo, take it easy.

Ross, how are things?

Liz, what is up?

Steph, how goes it?

JT, are you back in Tempe? I am sure that you will be watching the game on Saturday? Go Cat's!

Rosie, anything new?

Flo and John, be careful out there.

Herman, give everyone our best. Did you get the gift card?

Good Night

Good Night

Another day has just about come to a close here in the Old Pueblo. Chris and I took it slow and easy today. We relaxed and watched TV and listened to music all day long.

Well, Mum is going to be discharged from the hospital tomorrow and sent back to the Forum where she lives, but she will be in skilled nursing for a few weeks to get her bearings back so that she will be able to go back to her apartment there. So that is good news and we hope that she does not have a relapse while she is in skilled care.

Elise prepared soup for dinner this evening and we watched another episode of Prime Suspect 5. It is really good. Well, I had better get back to Chris. Have a good night and a better tomorrow. It is Hump Day!

Cheers............

Tiger, Marcie, Jet, sleep well.

Cool Tuesday!

Good Morning

Mood: Tired

Music listening to: Shine by Boney James

What is up? I started the day off at 5:15am caring for Chris. Elise is still guiding ships through the night. It must be a very foggy one because the warnings started very early last night. I went out to get the newspaper this morning and I could still hear a foghorn sounding. Come to find out it was her sister Ann helping Elise guide ships as well. It was dueling foghorns coming from both bedrooms.

I need coffee badly, smile. I tossed and turned last night due to a muscle in my shoulder was hurting. I wonder if a third foghorn was sounding? NOT! Angelica will be here this morning to care for Chris and I will take a short nap if I can. Yes, the coffee is good and I am thinking about a sausage biscuit to go along with it.

After Elise and Ann returned last night from the hospital visiting Mum, she told that the reason their was a problem with getting Mum up when she wanted to get up was due to it was shift change at the time. After the change all of her needs were attended to. I am sure that Mum is going to require some skilled nursing care when she returns home and some rehab as well.

Well, I had better get busy with Chris. Have a great Tuesday and stay safe and happy.

Later............

Tiger, Marcie, Jet let's hop to it.

Loraine, have a great day.

Shoo Shoo, what is up?

Monna, stay safe and warm.

Sis, what is going on in the (A)?

Pres. Obama will be here in Tucson to visit the site where the shooting took place and I am sure that he will visit Rep. Giffords at UMC. The security should be immense. It is always fun to watch Air Force One arrive at Davis Monthan Air Force Base.

Good Night

Good Night

How are you this evening? I just finished eating dinner with Elise. We had ham and a baked yam, tomatoes, and little carrots. It was very good. Now she has just left to go back to the hospital to see her Mom.

Mum has been taken out of the Cardiac Unit and now she is in a room. Elise said that she was told to get up to walk and she refused to do so. She did get up when she wanted to get up for the walk though. Once she was up she didn't want to stop walking but she was told she had to take it slow.

Ann just arrived at the house before Elise left for the hospital to tell Elise how things were going. Apparently Mum is not happy with her room because nobody comes around to see how she is nor is anyone there to help her to get up to go to the bathroom when she needs to go. So Elise and Ann are on there way back to the hospital along with Sara, Ann's daughter. I have seen Elise a total of about an hour and a half today so far.

Well, I had better get back to Chris. Have a good night and sleep well.

Cheers.............

Tiger, Marcie, Jet sleep well.

Jane and John, have a good night.

Monna ,it was good to hear from you today.

Again I want to thank everyone for the emails, phone calls in support of Mum.

Howdy!!

Howdy,

Elise just dropped in to get a few things for her Mom and she gave me an update.

Mum, is talking and requesting things. The doctor visited with her and he told her that she had a massive heart attack that destroyed the lower portion of her heart. Her upper portion he told her is doing well at this time.

Mum asked him when was she getting out of there? The doctor thought that she meant out of the cardiac unit and into a room. Mum told him she meant out of the hospital so she could go home. Mum is as tough as can be, let me tell you.

She will be moved into a room today or tomorrow and she will be there for a few days so she can be watched. The doctor told her that she needs to get up and walk around and Mum is all for it. Mum is asking questions and telling people what to do. A sure sign that she is feeling somewhat better. I will keep you informed as the day goes along.
Cheers.......... Jessie
