Good Night

Good Night

How has your day been? Things are finally getting back to normal but we are still recovering from our wonderful cruise. As promised here are the details of our cruise:

14-Mar-10

After Kecia arrived to care for Chris we left for the Marriott Hotel next to the airport. We decided to get room there because our flight leaves early in the morning. We are lucky to get great deals at the Marriott properties because my brother Herman works for Marriott. Before we checked into the room we went to the movies to see "She Is Out Of My League" it was very good and funny.

We checked into our room and we had a Jack and Coke to kick things off. Later we went to he Desert Diamond Casino for dinner. We both got the the special that was a prime rib dinner, mashed potatoes, green beans and salad for $9.95 each. A great deal, eh? We each had a glass of red that was pretty good too! The kicker at dinner was the Atomic Horseradish to eat with our prime rib. It was atomic let me tell you, both of us were coughing, our eyes were running, our sinuses cleared instantly, it was great!

After that we stopped in the casino o play a few slots but we were not having any luck at all like I did a few weeks back. So we decided to play a slot that we had never played before called the " Pink Wild Elephant. We were down by $120.00 so we played it and we won $190.00 and it was a penny machine. That made our evening that much better. We left with our winnings and returned to the hotel to call it a night.

15-Mar-10

We got up early and we caught the shuttle to the airport and we left our car at the Marriott. We arrived at the airport and we checked our bags and we had breakfast. We both got the special of eggs with chorizo, potatoes, salsa and flour tortillas. Of course we downed some coffee as well. We waited at the gate for our flight to San Diego. We arrived at around 9:30am and we are sitting around the terminal for for our bus to go to the cruise ship. When we were waiting in Tucson our daughter (Kim) texted us to let us know that her dad saw us in the airport, he was going to Florida.

We arrived at the port and we began the check in process before we boarded. After we boarded we explored the ship prior to us setting sail at 4:00pm. We are on the Carnival Elation and it is a very nice ship but smaller than the one we sailed prior to this cruise. Our room was very nice and roomy. We had dinner at about 7:30pm or so and the food was great and very plentiful. Prior to dinner we attended the muster drills that are required by the cruise line. Elise had to take some Dramamine to calm her seasickness and come to find out she was not the only one having problems.

Prior to dinner we went to the poolside bar and ordered a the drink of the day. It was very good. After that we returned to our cabin to see if all of our luggage had arrived, some did and the rest arrived later in the evening. Carnival is called the Fun Ships and it is due to a lot of young adults and a lot of spring breakers were on board. A lot from U of A and ASU. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. We had our dinner in the "Imagination" dining room. Our two waiters were from Croatia, and the greeter was a young woman from Hungary, and the asst waiter was from the Philippines.

Elise had the Tilapia and the waiter kept telling Elise how good the Maui, Maui was, so he brought her that as well. Elise enjoyed both of them and I told her that this waiter has a thing for her, so I had to keep and eye on him, smile! Elise also had salad, mac & cheese, carrots, potatoes and broccoli. I had the pork chop, mac & cheese, creamed peas, carrots. We ordered the wine special that consists of three bottles of wine for $66.00. Our first bottle was a Merlot from Australia that was excellent. For dessert I had the chocolate lave cake with ice cream. Elise had vanilla ice cream and orange sherbet. After dinner we went down to the infirmary to get more Dramamine tablets for Elise just in case she need them during the night. We went to see show at 10:30pm and it was great. Singers, dancers and a comedian who was very funny. After that we played the slots in the casino with no luck at all. We returned to our cabin and we called it a night.

More tomorrow about 16-Mar-10.

I'm so glad you were able to get away and take a fun cruise! Hope Elise's seasickness didn't hamper any of the fun. Once I took a boat of high school students over to Catalina Island, and everyone on the whole boat was sick because of the choppy waters - it was disgusting!!!

Hi Susie,

How is everyone doing? We had a very nice time on the cruise. Elise dealt with the seasickness well and she had a good time. We are now having trouble getting back to the everyday, smile.
