Good Morning,
Well, I have a break in the action this morning so here is a bit more about our Alaskan cruise:
9 Sept 11
We started our day very early. We met up with Bucky and Dena at the "Blue Lagoon" for a quick breakfast of eggs, bacon and potatoes. We are now docked in Ketchikan. It is about 6:00am and we are going salmon fishing.
We boarded a bus that was waiting on us at the pier. We arrived at a marina after about a 30 minute drive through Ketchikan. They even have a Micky D's here, smile! We met our guide named "Joe' at a small fishing boat that was for four people. So it was Elise, Bucky, Dena and me. We set out troll for salmon.
We had a great time we saw whales, and dolphins. They were real close to our boat, it was great to see the whales shooting water through there blow-holes and to see their huge tails splash the water. We caught a total of eight salmon and we had to put three back because they were too small. Our guide was very good and he knew what he was doing. The salmon we caught averaged 12 pounds each. Bucky made arrangements to have the fish smoked and shipped to us in Tucson. We had a good time and nobody got sea-sick while we were out on the water.
We got back on the bus and it we returned to the pier and we got back on the "Pearl". Elise and I went to the Garden Cafe for some lunch. I had soup, sandwich, sausage and ice cream. Elise had soup, rice, sauerkraut, sausage and ice cream. We returned to or stateroom and we took a nap for about an hour.
After the short nap we went we had a martini (dry and dirty). We went to Bucky and Dena's stateroom and we had a glass of vino with them. Then we went to the "Blue Lagoon" to play "Wizard". We ordered some snacks and another bottle of vino. We snacked on wings, spinach dip, and cheese cake. We played for quite awhile and it was a lot of fun. Another bottle of vino was ordered and all of a sudden the subject of politics came up and that was a mistake. Bucky really gets carried away when he talks politics and it is not a good thing. The subject got way out of hand and we ended the evening after having such a good day. That goes to show you that good chicken wings and politics don't mix ever, smile. We returned to our stateroom and we called it a night.
