Happy Halloween

Good Morning (Ghouls and Goblins)

Mood: Cheerful

Music listening to: Little Red Corvette by Prince

Happy Halloween! How are you doing? I started the day off at 5:30am looking in on Chris. Elise is caring for Chris this morning. I am on my first cup of coffee already and it is very good. Any plans for this the last day of October?

Elise, her Mum and I had a very nice time last night at Kingfishers for dinner. We started off with a bottle of Steele Zinfandel that was really good. When Elise's Mum asks for more than one glass it is very good, smile. The food was excellent. We shared Pan Seared Shrimp Cakes with a Vietnamese chili sauce and it was very spicy just like Elise and I like it. It was a bit too spicy for her Mum.

Elise, got Halibut Cheeks with potatoes and it was very good. Mum got a salad and fried oysters with veggies. I got Sea Scallops in a coconut sauce with a mystery rice with fried Bok Chow, wow was it good. We shared two orders of a pecan pie with cinnamon swirl ice cream that was really, really good. We topped off the dinner with some steaming hot, hot coffee. A wonderful evening!

We returned home stuffed to the gills don't you know? After Marv left I checked on Chris and we called it a night. Almost forgot to mention the thrill of the day. I mentioned in the previous posting that I was going to venture out to purchase my specialty wine that I do every six months as a treat for me. Well, I did it yesterday and what a deal did I get, it had me in shock and disbelief.

I went to BevMO and I bought a bottle of Brunno Giacosa Barolo Falletto 750ml 1999 for the price of $154.00 per bottle. Price shock, huh? Well, they have a promotion that from a select list of wines if you buy one bottle the second bottle is only five cent more. I thought for sure that this bottle of wine was not included in the promotion but it was. I wanted to do some cartwheels right there in the aisle but I kept cool. Keep in mind that this is a wine that is locked in a security display. The clerk got the wine out of case and he took the wine to the checkout and handed it to the cashier. He rung it up and even he was in shock that the second bottle was only five cent, he called for a manager and he confirmed it. I paid for it and I quickly left the store and dashed to my car before someone came after me saying they made a mistake. Wow, what a deal. Elise and I will open a bottle of it on Sunday to go along with our dinner. The other bottle we will store until sometime in 2010.

Well, I had better get busy around here and get this Saturday moving along. We are going to go out for dinner this evening at The Barrio and afterwards we are going to The Arizona Theatre Company to see Marlo Thomas in a live play called George Is Dead, it is a comedy. At dinner last night at Kingfisher we sat next to Jan and Lundy, it was good to see them. Have a great day!

Later......................

Good Morning Jeanne

JT, send me the bill for St. Luke's

Tiger and Marcie, have a wonderful day.

Steph, have a good weekend.

Good Morning TGIF

Good Morning

Mood: Content

Music listening to: Return of the Mack

TGIF, how are you? I started the day off at 5:30am caring for Chris. Actually I was awake at 4:00am due to Lampchop barking at something this morning and I checked it out and I didn't see a thing. I returned to bed and I just laid there until 5:30am. Elise is counting Bats this morning but she will be up and flying about soon. Any plans for today?

We had a very nice evening at The Black Angus with Janice and Frank. It is always a pleasure to spend time with them so we can swap stories and discuss what has been going on in our little part of Tucson. The food was great last night and we enjoyed every bit of it. We all got the prime rib with baked potatoes, and the real horseradish. Elise and I shared a cab and Janice had tea, while Frank enjoyed a beer. A very pleasant evening!

Elise and I are going out to dinner this evening with her Mum after Marv arrives to care for Chris. We are going to Kingfisher, they are known for there seafood dishes. Elise's Mum is going to to have fried oysters for sure. Elise and I will decide what we will have when we are seated. I am looking forward to it.

Well, it is getting very close to the time for me to purchase a expensive bottle of wine. I do this every six months as a treat for myself. The last bottle I bought was a Bordeaux that cost $100.00 and it was great. This time I will get a nice Chianti. I am spoiled huh? We went to see Amelia at the movies last night with Hilary Swank it was very, very good. Last night was the final evening that Brent cared for Chris, a very sad event for us and Chris. Brent will be missed.

Well I had better get to it. We hope that your Friday is a good one, stay safe. Have a blessed weekend as well.

Later..................

Good Morning

Mood: Cold brrrr!!

Music listening to: Nobody by Keith Sweat

How are you? I started the day of at 5:30am caring for Chris. Elise is up and out early this morning. It is a brisk 35 degrees right now and the dogs are glad to be inside with Chris and I. I am on my second cup of coffee and the dogs are licking there lips for a taste. No way!

I have to get Chris ready and settled early today due to he is going to have a visit this morning from one of his case managers at 9:30am. He and Elise are also going to get a massage this morning as well, so s busy day is ahead.

Elise and I went to see the movie This Is It about Micheal Jackson and it was very good. It showed what goes on to create this concerts and Micheal was a perfectionist without a doubt. We are going to go see Amelia this afternoon when Brent arrives to care for Chris. A sad note because this is Brent's last day caring for Chris. He will be deeply missed by us all.

Later this evening we will be meeting Janice and Frank at The Black Angus for dinner, can you say prime rib? We haven't seen them in quite awhile and it will be good to swap stories. Elise will be working out on the Wii this morning and the Wii suggested that I take a day of rest today. Elise is really feeling the soreness from the Wii workouts, and tomorrow will be her rest day.

Well, I had better get myself together and get back to Chris. Have a great Thursday.

Later.................

Good Morning Jeanne

Hump Day

Good Morning (Hump Day)

Mood: Sore from Wii

Music listening to: The Thrill Is Gone by BB King (Classic R&B)

Happy Hump Day! I started the day off at 5:45am caring for Chris. Elise is counting Elk this morning but she will be up and mooooving right along very soon. I am on my second cup of coffee already. It is a cool 53 degrees this morning with a wind blowing that makes it feel much cooler. A storm is blowing thorough Tucson and it has dropped the temperatures by at least 28 degrees. It is supposed to be near freezing tonight. Brrrrrr.

So you have any plans for this Hump Day? We may go to the movies when Rosemary shows up today to care for Chris or we may just stay home and watch a DVD. Elise brought me a great dinner last night after she returned from her book club meeting. Chicken Fettuccine and let me tell you is was great.

Well, I had better get warmed up and get this day moving. Another cup of coffee and my Wii workout for today should do the trick. The dogs are knocking at the door to be let in. Have a good Hump Day and stay safe.

Later................

Good Morning Jeanne, stay warm.

Tiger and Marcie, let's get this Hump Day started.

Anne, thank you for the info about the gas stations in Oregon.

Sis, glad to see that you are now on Twitter. Say hello to Shaina.

Claudia, how are you feeling today?

Steph, I am so sore from Wii and so is Elise, but we will continue on. OUCH!!

Good Night

Good Night

Well, it has been cool and windy day here in Tucson. It is supposed to only reach 57 degrees tomorrow for the high and it will be in the 30's at night. Brent cared for Chris this afternoon and I tried to recoup from my morning Wii session. I am really sore.

We canceled the Chris's chiro appointment due to Elise and her Mum were in a Marathon Bridge session this afternoon. After Elise returned we went to pick up the van from having it's routine services done. I am caring for Chris this evening and Elise is at her book club meeting at a place called Luna Bella. I requested that she bring me back some Fettuccine Alfredo for dinner.

Well, I had better get back to work with Chris. Have a good night and look out tomorrow is Hump Day.
Cheers.................

Good Night Jeanne

Ross, you are on a roll with the emails, keep it up.

Sleep well, Marcie and Tiger.

Good Morning

Good Morning

Mood: Indifferent

Music listening to: Poison by Bell,Biv,Devo

How are you? I started the day off at 5:30am caring for Chris. Elise is up and out early this morning. It is a cool 52 degrees here in Tucson this morning and it is supposed to be a storm heading our way within the next few days that will drop the temps to a record low. I had the feeling that since we didn't have much of a monsoon season that we would have a very cold winter season this year. Where are those long johns at?

We will be taking Chris's van in for routine servicing this morning and he has a chiro appointment this afternoon. We will take him for his appointment when Brent arrives to care for him. That should do it for us for today, another slow day, except I am going to workout on the Wii this morning. A repeat of yesterdays torture, smile.

Well, I had better get in the right frame of mind and get this day moving along, but first another cup of coffee. Have a good day and be happy.

Later..................

Good Morning Jeanne

Steph, so good to hear from you as always. Give our best to all, and take that walk around the track.

Tiger and Marcie, what's shaking?

Anne, how are things?

Good Night

Good Night

Well, this Monday is just about to end. How was yours? I completed my workout this morning and it almost did me in, smile. We relaxed most of the day after the workout. Elise prepared a very nice dinner of bacon and tomato sandwiches on toast. We also had carrots, and radishes. It was very good.

I am caring for Chris this evening and Elise is at her Mum's playing bridge. Well, I had better get back to work. Have a peaceful evening.

Ciao......................

Good Night Jeanne

Claudia, we are so sorry to hear that you have been under weather and in the hospital. Please get to feeling better soon.

Tiger and Marcie, sleep tight.

Ross, keep those great emails coming.

Sis, it was so good to hear from you today. Glad to hear that you and Shaina are hanging in there.

It's Monday so how are you doing? I started the day off at 5:30am caring for Chris. Elise is running with the Elks this morning but she will up soon. It is a nice 53 degrees here in the Old Pueblo, great sleeping weather. The coffee sure does hit the spot this morning.

We had a very nice time at the birthday party for Sara at her parents home. It was good to see everyone having a good time. After the party we returned home and Elise fixed some mashed potatoes that were great. I went to Fry's to get a roasted chicken to go along with it and it was delicious. While we ate our dinner we watched a DVD called Management that was good and funny.

After Rosemary left for the evening I checked on Chris and we called it a night. Chris and I are going to take it slow and easy today because it is a Monday. Well, I had better get busy with Chris and then I will get a workout in for myself. Have a good day and enjoy it.

Later..................

Herman, can you get a example of what the cost would be for the Ritz Carlton here with the associate rate? We are curious and maybe we could visit there next year sometime. Thanks!

Sunday

Good Morning

Mood: Happy

Music listening to: Summertime by Will Smith

How are you doing on this Sunday morning? I started the day off at 5:30am looking in on Chris and getting him settled. Elise is up and out on a walk this morning and she will be caring for Chris when she returns.

We had a very nice time last night at Casa Vicente and the Cabaret Theatre. We missed Jan and Lundy due to Jan was under the weather and could not make it. At Casa Vicente we started off with a bottle of red that was very good. We decided to have the Tapas instead of the main entries. Tapas means small plate and let me tell you they are delicious.

We started off with cubed potatoes with a creamy sauce and a hot sauce that was excellent. Then we had Gambones (shrimp in a very seasoned sauce) it was to die for. We also had sliced beef, halibut nestled on black rice, and we had a black eyed pea soup, and bread. We had a orange ice cream for dessert and we finished it off with a specialty drink made with anise. It was a culinary delight. While we ate our dinner we listened to live Flamingo music being played on the stage.

We left Casa Vicente and we went to the Cabaret Theatre and we saw a one woman play about the life of Dorothy Parker and it was great, serious and funny all combined into one. We returned home and I checked on Chris and we called it a night. Today we are going to a birthday party and I thing that is all we have planned for today. How about you?

Later.............

The photos above are a few more that we took at the Grand Canyon.

Good Afternoon

Good Afternoon

Mood: Well Rested but Sore, smile!

Music listening to: Rock Steady by the Whispers (Classic R&B)

How are you doing on this nice Saturday afternoon? We are doing just fine, thanks. I started the day off at 5:30am getting Chris settled for the day. Elise will be caring for him after she returns from swimming this morning. We also have a few errands to run like getting the tires rotated on the pick-up and getting gas for the Kia.

We are going to go out for Tapas this evening at a place called Casa Vicente, the food there is excellent. Afterwards we are going to the Cabaret Theatre to see a play called Dorthy Parker's Last Call. We will be joined by Jan and Lundy for dinner and the play, it should be a great evening.

Well, I had better get to filling you in about our mini-vacation to Williams, AZ, the Grand Canyon and Sedona, so here goes:

We left Tucson on the 21st at 6:30am, Brent arrived at 6:00am to care for Chris while we were away. Chris is always happy to see Brent. We are going to miss Brent when he stops taking care of Chris so that he can care for his parents. It will be a very sad note in our lives for sure. We stopped at a truck stop for breakfast and the food was good. Elise had a ham slice, scrambled eggs and hash browns. I had the pork chops, scrambled eggs and hash browns. Of course we loaded up on coffee.

We listened to a book on tape about what the world might be like in 2027. It is really scary because the book was written in 2000 and yet the author mentions the financial meltdown of the year 2007. How did he know about that? We arrived at our Marriott hotel in Williams and let me tell you it is very chilly here. In the 50's and it is supposed to be in the 30's or below tonight. We walked around the streets of Williams, AZ population 3000. It consists of one main street on Route 66 and on that street are a zillion and one hotels, motels, restaurants and gift shops. We bought Kim a Route 66 sign and we bought tee shirts for ourselves and yes the tees are long sleeve. We stopped by the train depot to pick u our tickets for tomorrow. $169.00 for two and you could upgrade to first class if you doubled the price. We didn't the standard couch was good enough for us.

We returned to our hotel and we played video games on the laptop for the rest of the afternoon, of course we had to have a couple of Jack and Cokes to heat us up, smile. Later we went to have dinner at a place called Doc Holidays Steak House. The food was very good. I ordered a huge T-Bone with fries and Elise ordered shrimp cocktail, salad and a baked potato. Yep, you guess it we shared the whole meal together. We also got a bottle of Ravenwood Zinfandel that was very good. We returned to our hotel and and we consumed a few more Jacks. Elise went to get dessert from the lobby that consisted of a Payday candy bar and a homemade cookie that was very good. We called it a night.

22-Oct

I was up at around 6:00am or so and Elise didn't get up until 7:15am. We both got showered and dressed and we went to the lobby for a continental breakfast. Elise picked up a couple of apples to to take along with us on the rain. It was cold outside and the pick up was covered in frost. We had a very nice train ride to the canyon and there were people from all over in our car. There were four couples in our car who were celebrating being married for 50 years, now that is a feat in it's self. They had cards and balloons tied to their seats. Our hostess was very good her name was Amber Rose and she talked non-stop. She was very entertaining. We even had strolling cowboys singing songs and playing the guitar as well. We spent 3 and a half hours at the canyon and it is breathtaking to see even if you have been there before, it is still an amazing sight to see. I was a cool 64 degrees at the canyon. We saw Elk,Deer, Squirrels, Giant Crows,Tarantulas, Antelope, a mule train down in the canyon, lizards and Mountain Goats. After walking along the South Rim of the canyon we were hungry so we ate lunch at a place called El Tovar and the food was great. Elise had a burger with cheese and mushrooms, no bun, and french fries. I had a shaved prime rib sandwich with Havarti cheese and chile's, with fries. After walking the rim we needed a couple of Jack and Cokes without a doubt. The restaurant was built in 1905 and it is really cool inside. What a great day at the canyon but we are looking forward to the peaceful ride back to Williams.

Well, that got interrupted due to we were held up for a while when group of masked outlaws decided to board our train and rob it. They wanted money, jewelry, good teeth even. They got to us and Elise gave one of the outlaws an apple and that made him happy. The train ride was superb! We returned to our room to kick back for a bit but it wasn't long before we were on the move again. At about 8:00pm went to a place called Pancho McGillcuddys for dinner. A Irish/Mexican restaurant. It was built in 1893 and it used to be a saloon in the heart of the Red Light District no less. We had Margarita's that were really good and not watered down at all. Elise had shredded beef tostados, with rice and beans. It was too much for her to handle so she gave me one of her tostados, and yes it was very good. I had my usual chicken enchiladas with rice and beans. What a meal we had to share another Margarita before we headed back to our hotel. We got back to the room and it was all over, we were stuffed and tired.

23 Oct

We woke up at late this morning even though we went to bed early last night at 9:00pm. Can you believe it that Elise was up before me? We got dressed and we went to have breakfast tat the best place in town or so Amber Rose told us. Remember Amber Rose she was our hostess on the train. She was there with her Mom and she introduced us to her. The name of the restaurant was Pine Country restaurant. Elise had oatmeal with the works. I had scrambled eggs, hash browns, ham and a English Muffin. We had gallons of coffee too! We bought a huge cinnamon roll for Elise's Mum at a cost of $4.49, we hope that she likes it. We were sitting near a group of German tourists and they were fascinated at the pie display case. The pies were some of the biggest pies you have ever seen. After breakfast we went to the Red Garter Bakery and Bed shop. It is a bed and breakfast place that used to be a brothel and bar in the good old days. We bought a hat for Chris and a t-shirt for Brent and Kim.

We checked out of the hotel and now we are on our way to Sedona. We had a very nice relaxing drive to Sedona and the red rocks are a wonder to see. We arrived back in Tucson at around 5:00pm and we unpacked. Marv took over for Brent for the evening. Elise and I went to Cody's Beef and Beans for dinner and the food is as good as ever. We shared a carafe of Burgundy that was great. We returned home and Elise hit the sheets and after Marv left for the evening I called it a night as well. We had a very nice relaxing mini-vacation. Where to next, eh?

Later................

The above photos are just a few. I will include a few more within the next blog entry.

Afterwards we returned to our room and we played video games on the laptop. I had to contact Kim to see if our Wildcats won their football game last night and they did in a nail bitter game. While we were playing the games I ordered some chicken wings because I got very hungry and they are delicious let me tell you.

Wait a minute Elise is stirring so I had better get the coffee brewing. I am sure that we are going to go out for breakfast before we head back to Tucson. So I had better get cracking. Have a good day.

We had a wonderful time last night and I do mean wonderful. We had dinner in the Foothills of Tucson with Jeanne and Angelica. We dined like royalty let me tell you. We had some fantastic appetizers and the Margaritas were excellent. The main course was Chicken Mole', rice, salad, muffins, refried beans and the topper was Flan that was oh, so good. Of course another Margarita or two was heavenly. Elise was drinking Jack and Coke and I had to keep a eye on her, smile. A wonderful evening with the best hostesses in Tucson and such good friends. Oh yeah, the after dinner drink was Ouzo with three coffee beans in it, I love it.

We returned home and after Marv left I checked on Chris and we called it a night. I am finishing up with my packing for our trip to Tempe this morning. We will leave at around 11:30am or so. It is a nice 64 degrees today and it is supposed to get into the upper 90's today and tomorrow. The coffee is so good this morning, I am on my second cup.

I have to run to my office this afternoon for some paperwork. We are going to have dinner this evening with Jeanne in the Foothills of Tucson. I can hear the sound of Jack hitting the glass and some red flowing nicely as well. We always have a good time with Jeanne and Angelica no matter what we are doing.

We had a very nice evening a Leo's last night with Elise's Mum, Toni, Lois and Lee. The food was great and the Margaritas were just right. As a matter of fact Toni was in good form last night with her jokes and they were a bit off the wall for her I must say. That is a good thing though because she was enjoying herself and so was I. I am lucky to be in the company of all these women and I am the only guy. I have got it going on, smile!

We will be leaving tomorrow for a cousin's reunion up in Tempe, AZ. We will be staying at the Towne Place Suites by Marriott near the Arizona Mills Mall. We will return on Sunday afternoon. It should be a interesting event and I hear that there will be ping pong. Lookout now. Well, I had better get busy with Chris, have a good Friday and a better weekend.

Cheers...........

Good Morning Jeanne, see you this evening after Marv arrives to care for Chris.

Music listening to: You've Got Me Working Day And Night by Michael Jackson

How are you doing? I started the day off at 4:55am due to the dogs barking at something so I just stayed up and began to care for Chris. It is a nice 59 degrees outside and the birds are chirping already. Elise is counting Cardinals this morning but she will be boot scooting soon, smile.

Good Night

Good Night All

Well, it has been a peaceful day here in the valley. Chris and I took it slow and easy today. Elise prepared a very nice dinner this evening. We had cheese crisps, refried beans, tomatoes, jalapenos, and of course a couple of cold beers to wash it all down.

We also watched a DVD with Chris this evening as well. I am caring for Chris tonight and Elise is resting in he main house. I had better get back to working with Chris. Have a wonderful evening and a great day tomorrow.

Night..............

Good Night Jeanne.

Claudia, how are things in Texas?

Hump Day

Good Morning

Mood: Happy

Music listening to: Baby, Baby, Baby by TLC

It's Hump Day, how are you? I started the day off at 6:10am caring for Chris. Elise is counting seed pods this morning, but she will be up soon to get her Hump Day rolling along. It is a nice 57 degrees out and it is a bit chilly for Porkchop since she is a short-haired dog. The coffee is doing it's job this morning. Any plans for today?

No plans here as of yet. It should be a very slow, peaceful day here in the desert of Tucson. Well, I had better get this Hump Day rolling so have a good one.

Later................

Good Morning Jeanne.

Ross, your vacation plans are coming along nicely. Give a hello to Denise for us.

Good Night

Good Night,

It has been a very nice relaxing day today. How did yours go? After Rosemary arrive to care for Chris, Elise and I went to the movies to see Couples Retreat and it was pretty good and funny. We also went to Chris's dad's grave site to put some flowers on it. While we were there I stopped at the grave site of a couple that I cared for and nursed.

We returned home and Elise fixed some very good soup for dinner. We watched the Golden Girls on DVD with Chris. I am caring for Chris this evening and Elise just left to play bridge at her Mum's. Well, I had better get back to work. I want to thank everyone who commented on our trip to Douglas, we had a very nice time there.

Cheers............

Good Night Jeanne. See you Friday night.

Monna, thank you.
