Good Morning

Good Morning

Mood: Sleepy

Music listening to: Purple Rain by Prince

How are you doing on this fine Saturday morning? I started the day off at 5:30am caring for Chris. Elise is still sawing logs and she is still having problems with her back pain. Normally Elise would care for Chris today but today I will until she starts to feel better. Any plans for today? We are going to see the Beethoven play tonight and we are going to have dinner at the Barrio. At the present time Elise is hosting Marathon bridge session in the main house and her Mom is one of the players.

Here is a overview of our mini-trip to Phoenix, we had a very nice and relaxing time:

We left Tucson at around 9:15am on 22-April after Brent arrived to care for Chris. Brent was telling us about how Chris enjoyed himself at Chucky Cheese on Thursday and now he is addicted to cotton candy. Elise and I ran a few errands after we left home and then we had breakfast at Gus Balones. Elise had ham, eggs. potatoes and toast. I had pork chops, eggs, potatoes, and toast. Of course we had gallons of coffee. After breakfast Elise went to her chiropractor for a treatment for her back and it helped.

We stopped at a drugstore to get some bottled water and some Tylenol for me and some aspirin for Elise. We listened to a book on tape on the way to Phoenix that Elise borrowed from her sister Ann and we discovered that one of the tapes was missing, bummer. We arrived at the Marriott at around 2:00pm and it is hot as can be, 100 degrees. We unpacked and are relaxing with a Jack and coke. Later we are going to go to the Botanical Gardens and look around. We are going to return to the Garden after dark to see the light display within the grounds.

At around 6:45pm we returned from from walking through the Gardens, it is a huge place and it is very hot outside. The blown glass displays are great and very interesting to see. In the meantime we are having another Jack and coke , smile! We returned to the Garden after it got dark and the blown glass displays were all lit up and it was really cool to see. We departed he Garden and we went to a place called McCormick & Schmidt's for a seafood dinner. Elise had the Alaskan halibut and I had the Tilapia from Ecuador. Our waiter was excellent and really tended to Elise's special needs with gluten allergy. With the meal we each had an 8 ounce glass of Cab and it was great. For dessert we shared a peach cobbler with coffee. Oh yeah I ordered scalloped potatoes as a side and it was a meal by itself, hugs portion. We are STUFFED!! We returned to our room and called it a night.

On Thursday 23 April I got up at around 8:00am and I put on the coffee and the smell of it brewing woke Elise up. We went down for breakfast in the dining area of the Courtyard, it was a little expensive but convenient. Elise had oatmeal, and orange, banana. I had eggs, bacon, potatoes, toast and we both had coffee. After breakfast Elise went to the exercise room and she rode the stationary bike for about 30 minutes, while I was in the room chilling. Then we went to the Jacuzzi and Elise relaxed in the hot water and let the jets work their magic on her back. I sat and took a few photos.

It is now 11:50am and we left the Marriott heading for Sara's new house that she just bought, it is very close to the Marriott and in a very nice area. We took a tour of hr home and it is very well constructed. Sara has repainted some of the rooms to her liking in a array of colors. The most interesting one is her bedroom, it is a deep rich green with a pink trim that matches her bedspread. After our tour we took Sara to lunch at a place she picked called Zoe's, and it was very good. Elise and Sara both had the grilled chicken with sauteed onions on top, served over cold slaw with feta cheese. Elise said it was delicious! I had a grilled ham and Swiss sandwich with a pasta salad that was very good. We left to go back to the Marriott and Sara left for her track coaching job that she does part time. Sara is a fireman full time. We got back into the room and we played video games on the laptop and we consumed Jack and cokes most of the afternoon. Elise took a short nap and I watched the TV and I had a hard time hearing it due to the snore concert that was going, smile.

We got dressed later and headed back to Sara's to take her out to dinner for her birthday dinner again we asked her to pick the place and she did. We went to a Greek food place called "Bacchanal" and it was wonderful. Elise had the Gyro platter, Sara had a chicken dish with a wonderful sauce on it. I had a chicken breast stuffed with tomatoes and feta cheese, I was in heaven. Sara had a glass of white wine and Elise and I shared a bottle of a Greek red wine that was excellent. For dessert Sara was given a bowl of rice pudding with a candle on top, very nice and we shared it with her. The topper of course you guessed it hot coffee. We said good night to Sara and we returned to the Marriott and crashed. A wonderful evening.

Friday April 24th, I woke up early and I put on the coffee. I woke Elise up at 7:00am and she let me know that it was too early, but she welcomed the coffee. We went down for breakfast and then we began to pack up for the drive back home to Tucson. We departed Phoenix at about 11:00am and we arrived in Tucson at about 12:45pm. We went to the movies to see a movie with Russell Crowe and Ben Affleck called the State of Play,it was very good. We got home after the movie and unpacked, it is always good to come back home after Brent returns with Chris I will be caring for him due to Marv is not able to work with him due to his recent surgery.Chris is in a good mood and glad to see us back home.

Well, their you have a good mini-trip. I will post some of the photos within some of the upcoming posts to our blog. The photo above is Elise relaxing in the Jacuzzi..

Sounds like you two had a wonderful time. I hope Elise's back is better soon. I follow several daily photo blogs from AZ and in the past month or so, they have all posted photos of the Chihuli Glass sculptures on their blogs - just beautiful. Here are 2 of the links:
