Hump Day

Good Morning

Mood: Relaxed

Music listening to: Real Close

Hump Day!! How are you this morning? I started the day off at 5:15am caring for Chris. Elise is still on our mini-vacation but she will be up and about soon. The coffee is working nicely this morning and a second cup is not far away. Any plans for today? It is cloudy this morning and we just might get a drop of rain or two.

We are preparing and getting things ready for Elise's Mom's birthday day. We will be taking her out to dinner at the Arizona Inn on Saturday. On Sunday we will be having an open house type affair here for her friends to stop by to wish her a happy birthday as well. It should be a lot of fun and very entertaining, smile.

We had a very nice mini-vacation in Quemado, New Mexico and as promised here is what took place:

2-Jul-10

We left Tucson at around 9:00am after Rosemary arrived to care for Chris. We didn't leave Tucson until about 11:00am. We stopped at Gus Balones for breakfast but it was closed for vacation so we stopped at Toni's which was right up he street. It was packed and we had to wait a while before gave our order, but it was worth the wait. Elise had a mushroom and Swiss cheese omelet and I had pigs in a blanket. We both had plenty of hot coffee.

Next we stopped at a Circle K to get ice for our coolers and to make a pit stop. This Circle K didn't have any restrooms so we stopped at a Mickey D's. While we were there I got a strawberry banana smoothie and it was very good, and we were on our way. We listened to a book on ape by Faye Kellerman called "The Burnt House" it was very good and exciting. We stopped at Mickey D's in Globe, AZ for another pit stop and to grab a bite to eat. I got McNuggets and Elise got a plain ice cream sundae, we also topped the pick up off with gas. Elise and I have savings plan that works very well. Whenever we get a $5.00 bill we save it and so far on this trip we have gotten 6 of them.

We arrived at the Largo Motel at 5:45pm, we made very good time. We checked in and we checked out our room. We unloaded the pick up and then we went to the Largo Cafe for dinner, prior to that we had to have a Jack and Coke, smile. Dinner was very good. Elise got tacos and pinto beans, I had fried catfish with mashed potatoes, corn, Texas toast and homemade chicken noodle soup. We returned to our room and we watched a little TV and then we called it a night.

3-July-10

We started the day of at around 8:30am , well Elise did I didn't get up until 9:00am. We went over to the Cafe for breakfast, Elise had green Chile huevos rancheros and she really enjoyed that. I took a bite and it was really good and hot . I had the pork chops and eggs and they were very good too. We then left and headed into the mountains to meet Nanci and Jeff. It was a very nice day not hot at all like our AZ weather. We helped them to put in new gutters on the garage. We set up scaffolding because the roof is very high up. I didn't take long to get the job done and again we learned how to do something new. Nanci and Elise also varnished the back porch area.

It was about beer thirty so we called it a day and we opened a few bottles and we relaxed. We sat around the campfire and we cooked New York Strip steaks. We also had corn on the cob and baked beans and of course we had to open a bottle of vino, roso. After dinner we just sat around the fire and relaxed. It was time to head back to the motel and we say a small herd of Elk on the road. The town of Quemado had their 4th of July parade on the third instead of the 4th, it lasted for about 15 minutes, smile. They also had their fireworks on the evening of the 3rd as well. It has been a very good day and we hit the sheets.

4-July-10

We got up at around 9:00am and we went to the Cafe for breakfast. Elise had oatmeal with the works and I had a short stack with ham that was great. We headed back up into the mountains to Nanci and Jeff's. Jeff had put the finishing touches on the gutter already and it looked good. We sat around and talked for awhile. Later Nanci and Elise went on a hike and I went on the lake with Jeff to fish I didn't fish I just went along for the ride. Jeff didn't catch any fish and he did not get any nibbles at all. We returned to house and Jeff and I sat around and talked and we downed a few beers while waiting for Nanci and Elise to return from there hike. After Elise and Nanci returned we had a few more beers with them and some chips, salsa and bean dip to snack on before dinner.

For dinner we had hot dogs, beans and salad. Of course the red had to come out. After dinner Elise and I went on a walk hoping to spot more Elk. We saw 5 of them on the road right outside of Nanci and Jeff's property. While we were waiting on Nanci and Elise to return from their hike Jeff and I saw two of them right of us while we were downing our beers. It was about 8:30pm and we headed back to the Motel. We watched a little TV and we called it a night. Another relaxing day.

5-Jul-10

We started the day at around 8:30am and we went over to the Cafe for breakfast. We were waiting for Nanci and Jeff to arrive to join us for breakfast. The Cafe was closing at 10:00am this morning due to a funeral. Elise called Nanci and Jeff to let them know about the early closing and for them not to come down. Good thing we called because they were on AZ time instead of New Mexico's time. After breakfast we got packed up and we headed for Tucson. We stopped in Globe, AZ at Mickey D's for a bite to eat, and then we continued on to Tucson. There you have it, a very nice mini-vacation. Our next outing will be a stay-cation here in Tucson at the Desert Diamond Hotel and Casino.

I will post a few pics later today. Have a great Hump Day and be happy. If you have rain in your area please send it our way.

Later.................................
