Howl................
Well , I just left the main house because I heard a eerie sound like a creaking door opening and then there was this blood curdling scream. I ran over to investigate and it was just Elise hitting the floor to start her day, smile.
I was so terrified that I had to get a shot of Sambuca to calm down! I know what you are saying that it is way too early to be hitting the bottle , but it is 5:00pm somewhere.
Well, here is a bit more about our adventure in Florence, Italy. Enjoy!
9 Oct 12
It is about 9:30am and we awoke lazily and drifted through our morning routine. Once again, we didn't sleep well because of the noise from the street.
We ate breakfast same as yesterday and then we set off to see the "David" and other statues, it was around 11:30am. It rained most of the morning but it stopped as we were heading out to explore. The temperature was perfect.
We walked to the "Galleria Dell' Accademia" the home of the "David".Elise finally got to feast her eyes on the pretty boy in all of his glory. She said that " He is awesome". We also looked at many more statues in the Galleria as well.
Now we were getting hungry or was it the "David " that caused Elise to say let's eat! We stopped in McDonalds, yes I said McDonalds. We like to try Micky D's every place we go because it is not the same everywhere. It was different in Germany and it is different here. The bun and the burger is not the same as what we are used to in the states. Elise got the Royal McBurger and I got a bacon cheeseburger. The food was pretty good, even though we had to pay 20 cent for ketchup, outrageous. Smile!
After our meal we walked over to the "Duomo. We are glad that we purchased our Firenze Cards because the lines were out there. We swiped our cards and we went right in.
It is a beautiful cathedral that is huge in size and the ceiling featured a painting by Michelangelo that is spectacular. Very impressive.
Then we walked to Palazzo Vecchio where there steps and we wore ourselves out. It was about 5:00pm and we decided stop at a place that had tortellini with ham. I love tortellini a ragu con carne. Elise got a pizza she said was not very good. She said that the pizza at "Oreganos" in Tucson was better and she was correct. I guess we found a place that was not the best to eat at and the vino was not the best either. Lesson learned, eh?
We returned to our B&B but for just a moment. We left out again to call Rosemary to see how Chris was doing. We looked for a public phone and we could not remember where we saw one. So we walked and walked and just as we were about to give up we stumbled on two of them.
We used our international phone card and we talked with Rosemary and all was great and Chris was doing just fine. We were relieved to hear that because that was one of our major worries.
We started our trek back to our B&B and we did not have our map with us. We should have been dropping bread crumbs as were out looking for the phone because we were in strange territory. Smile!
We had idea how to get back to our B&B. So we walked and walked until I decided that this is a serious problem. So I said to Elise let's stop at this Piazza and have a nice cold beer. Elise was game for that. We people watched and we listened to street musicians play and they were very good. We tossed in a few Euros in appreciation.
It was a beautiful evening but we still had the nagging question "Where in the hell was our B&B". We started to walk again and we were thoroughly lost. Then all of a sudden we spotted a street the we knew. We turned left on it and "Viola" we found our B&B. You can bet from now on the map goes where we go without a doubt. Come to find out that you really cannot get lost in Florence because all of the streets have you going in circles so to speak. We enjoyed the evening anyway! We called it game over for the night.

Hey, Golden Boy! That jacket matches that golden door pretty darn good. You must have planned it.
