TGIF!! How are you doing this morning? I started the day off at 5:15am caring for Chris. Elise well she is in a canoe floating down Justin Lane but she will be hitting a dry spot on Alvernon and she will begin her day. Any plans for today? The coffee is wonderful this morning and I am thinking about a omelet with ham, bacon, sausage and lot's of cheese, Yes!
We got rain on pretty good during the night and we have a small lake in the backyard that I have to do something with before we get more rain today. We are going to go out to dinner with Mum this evening to Cody's Beef and Beans, can you say T-bone steak and a carafe of Burgundy? I can and I will, smile. Elise having a bridge marathon here at the house today so it will look like a car dealership out in front of the house this afternoon.
Well, here is what we did on the last day of our stay-cation in Mesa, AZ.
Prior to checking out of the Scottsdale resort we drove to Old Scottsdale for breakfast at US Egg and the food is good there. After breakfast we stopped at Target to get a replacement chain for Elise. We checked out of the resort and we headed for Mesa,AZ. We checked into a Courtyard Marriott that my brother Herman got us a good deal on. We relaxed and had a few Jack and Cokes while we worked on crosswords and we watched a little TV as well.
Later in the evening we left to visit a couple that Elise knew way back in high school. They have a fantastic home with a ballroom dance studio that is amazing. It made me want to break out in a Rumba, smile. Very nice. We had a very nice dinner with them that consisted of salads, New York Strip Steaks, mashed potatoes and we went through 3 bottles of red, yes we did. For dessert we had three different types of sorbet and so cookies that melted in you mouth. A great evening! We returned to the Marriott and we called it a night.
We got up the next day and we stopped at a Denny's for breakfast and we headed for Tucson. We got home and we unpacked and checked on Chris. Later in the evening we went to Oregano's for pizza and vino. It is always a treat to go to Oregano's. We also had a Bellini as well to top the evening off. We returned home and that completed our Scottsdale/Mesa stay-cation.
On the 25th we went on a overnight stay-cation at the Desert Diamond Casino and Hotel. We are Players Club members and we get some pretty good perks. We arrived at the DDC at around 2:00pm and we checked in. While we were getting settled in our room we had a few Jack and Cokes and a few handfuls of popcorn. Jack and popcorn is great! Elise worked on a crossword for a bit and I channel surfed on the TV.
Then we went down to the casino. It was not crowded at all and I forgot that it was a Wednesday evening. We played some slots and we did pretty well, it was a lot of fun especially on the Ladybug slot and the Wizard of Oz. We kept track of the time because we did not want to miss the dinner specials that started at 4pm and ended 6pm. We went into the steakhouse and we had the prime rib dinner. It comes with salad, bread, mashed potatoes and gravy, and we ordered horseradish ( the real stuff not the creamy) to go along with it. What a meal for $9.95 each. The horseradish cleared our sinus and it had our eyes watering, man that is some good stuff. We shared a bottle of red with the meal.
After dinner we hit the slots again and we did well. I would say that we did a little better than breaking even. We returned to our room and we read for a while before calling it a night. We got up the next morning and I put on the coffee. I went down to see what was available at the complimentary breakfast bar and I didn't see anything that interested me. We checked out of the DDC and we stopped at Jerry Bob's for breakfast and the food was very good. We returned home and we unpacked and we checked on Chris and Rosemary arrived to care for Chris. We were going to see "Piranha 3D" but we did not have enough time to get to Park Mall on time. So we went to see" Johnny Saint Cloud" it was very good and well done. We returned home and rested up and we called it a night and there you have it a good time here in the Old Pueblo.
We are talking about a stay-cation for September around the 15-17th. Well, I had better go and check on Elise and get to work with Chris. Have a great Friday and a better weekend.
