Good Night

Good Night

How did your Monday go? Things went very well here in Tucson. A peaceful day but it is still hot outside, 93 degrees at 7:20pm. I am caring for Chris this evening and Elise is at her Mom's playing bridge.

Elise fixed a nice dinner this evening that consisted of pinto beans with jalapenos, cornbread and ice tea. I am about to explode from eating so much. I have some photos of Elise's trip to New York and as soon as I get them prepared for viewing I will post them to our blog. They are very nice shots of New York and the people there.

Well, I had better get back to Chris and get him settled for the night. Have a good evening all.

Cheers.........................

Good Night Jeanne

Rosemary, I got your post on Facebook, thanks.

Olivia, it was good to hear from you today.
The above photo is of Elise looking at the San Francisco bridge before we walked across it.

It's Monday so what's up? I started the day off at 5:30am caring for Chris. Elise is still counting beetles this morning, but it won't be long now before she is off to the races. It is a nice 82 degrees right now but it is supposed to reach 102 today. The coffee cup is right next to me and it is nice and hot.

We had a very nice day yesterday that started off with breakfast with Elise's Mum at Mimi's Cafe. Later in the day Elise,Chris and I watched a DVD that was pretty good about schools in France. I was very good and the problems we have here, they have there. After that we played video games on our laptop. We are having a time getting to the next level of a game called Abundante, it is giving us fits.

Ann, Elise's sister and her family arrived and we all went out to eat dinner at Marie Callender's. The food was great and we shared a bottle of red. They were out of Elise's Mum's favorite chicken pot pie, so she had Pot Roast instead and a slice of Strawberry pie. After dinner we took Elise's Mum home and we stopped at Blockbuster to get another DVD to watch. Rosemary is caring for Chris this evening. We continued to try to conquer the video game on the laptop and we made a little progress but not quite enough to complete the level. We are still going crazy, but we will hang in there with it.

After Rosemary left I checked on Chris and we called it a night and we read for a while before it was lights out. A very good day and a good weekend. Well, I had better get busy with Chris. Enjoy your Monday. Marva the caregiver who worked with Chris for a 24 hour period did a great job and Chris likes her a lot.

Herman, thank you for the info about the rooms. We will get back to you very soon, thanks.

Sunday

Good Morning

Mood: Rested, relaxed, motivated.

Music listening to: None

It's Sunday morning, so how are you? I started the day off at 5:40am looking in on Chris. Elise is still counting lizards this morning but she will be up and about soon. Marva is caring for Chris this morning and has been now for a 24 hour period to get used to working with Chris and learning his routine. So far she has done a great job of it. Rosemary was here last night for 4 hours to assist Marva as well. Chris is chatting up a storm this morning and he is ready to get his day rolling.

The coffee is on and it is good. We are going to go out for breakfast this morning as usual with Elise's Mum. We are going to a place called Mimi's Cafe, the food is good there and they are well now for their homemade muffins. Last night Elise and I relaxed and we watched a DVD called Blindness that was really really good with Julianne Moore. We ate homemade pizza while we watched the movie and we downed a few beers as well.

Prior to that we went to The Loft to see a movie called Hump Day and it was a very different kind of movie. It was about two male friends who decided to make a porno movie ( gay porno movie). The kicker is that both guys are straight and they came up with the idea during a party. It was hilarious and the things that they went through the try to get this movie made. The ending is very funny and I bet that you cannot guess what happened?

Well, I had better go to see what the dogs are barking at. Have a good day and stay happy. Elise and I also played many video games last night on our laptop until we got stuck on one of the games and we could not get off of one level that is really hard.

Later................

Good Morning Jeanne

Ross, I agree we sometimes have to break the rules to have a bit of fun.

Monna, how are you and the boys today?

Steph, how are you?

Tiger and Marcie, how was your evening last night?

What is up? I started today off at 5:35am looking in on Chris and getting him settled. Elise is caring for Chris this morning after she returns from swimming. It is supposed to be another hot one today, 108 again. The coffee is nice and hot this morning and it is giving me that extra boost to get moving.

We had a very nice time at the Silver Dragon with Elise's Mum last night. New owner's have take over the business but the food is still good. We shared many pot's of hot tea, egg rolls with mustard and sweet sauce, BBQ beef, lo mein noodles with shrimp, sweet and sour pork, beef with peppers, and hot soup. We were stuffed let me tell you, but about an hour or two later I was have the growling stomach melody, smile.

After we dropped Elise's Mum at home we went to Blockbuster to get a DVD, and then we went to drop off some Teff flour at the Ethiopian restaurant for our next visit there so they could make some Teff Injera. We returned home and Elise called it a night and I watched a little TV until Marv left for the night. I checked on Chris and I called it a night too.

We will be going to the movies this evening at the Loft to see a movie called Hump Day. That is all that we have planned for today. How about you? Well, I had better get busy and see what the dogs are barking at. Have a great day!

Good Night

Good Night

Well, it has been a very good day today. After Brent arrived to care for Chris, Elise and I went to DM Airbase to take care of a business matter. While we were there there we stopped at the Class 6 store and Elise picked up some Jack Daniels, Vodka and a couple bottles of red.

We returned home and Elise made some Margaritas that were just great and did it ever hit the spot. I am caring for Chris this evening and Elise just left for her book club meeting at Leo's. She is going to bring me back some enchilada's for dinner. She also fixed some extra Margaritas for me to have with my dinner. I must tell you this sure beats bread and water by a long shot. Lucky me!!

We got a few drops of rain today, just enough to spot up the cars. Hey, I have developed empty nest syndrome due to the baby hummingbird has left the nest. I went out this morning to check on it and it was bobbing hits head up and down in the nest. I decided to take a photo of it and as I got close to the nest it took flight. I was pleased to see that. It landed on rear window of the car and I eased up close to get a photo and it took off into the trees with is parent. I have been watching it develop ever since it was just an egg in it's nest. Wow!!

Well, I had better get back to Chris. Have a good evening and a great Hump Day tomorrow.

Cheers.................

It's has been a very good day today. We hope that yours was a good one? Elise prepared a very nice dinner this evening, no more bread and water for me, smile. I am caring for Chris this evening and Elise is playing bridge at her Mom's.

Chris has been very vocal today for some reason. He is having lemon pie this evening along with his dinner. He loves it. Well, I had better go and get the dogs feed for the night. Have a good night's sleep and a blessed day tomorrow.

Good Night Jeanne, good to hear from you today.

JT, good to hear from you today. Enjoy being a senior.

What's Up?

Howdy,

Well, the day is moving along nicely so far. How about yours? Elise is up and out already, you cannot keep her down. She is out playing bridge and then she is going to the gym to workout. Speaking of working out I spent 45 minutes on the Bow Flex and my abs are burning, smile.

Well, here is a breakdown of Elise's trip to New York:

Elise and her sister Ann left Tucson on the 19th of August headed for New York. The day started at 7:30am and they arrived in New York at 9:30pm. A very long day, indeed. They were stuck in Dallas/Ft.Worth airport for 3 hours do their flight was cancelled. They were given $10.00 apiece to purchase food while waiting for another connecting flight to New York. They had Cuban food, soft corn tacos filled with chicken and spices, and also filled with barbacoa and spices. They also had white beans refried and rice, a very good meal. Later they made their connecting flight and continued on to New York and arrived at around 9:30pm and they paid $24.20 for the taxi ride to the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott. After checking into their room they went to the restaurant bar at 10:30pm and had two glasses of wine apiece ($10.00 per glass and they had a small snack as well. The bill was $68.00 dollars, and they called it a night.

20 Aug 09

Elise woke up at 10:30am the next day and Ann was already up and gone out. Elise went swimming in the lap pool and she swam 3/4 of a mile. Ann returned and they went out to a Farmers Market that is held every Thursday -Saturday. Farmers from around the New York area come in with their wares. Elise and Ann sampled all kinds of tomatoes and bought peaches, raspberries, tomatoes and plums. After that they bought Gyros from a vendor and ate them at a shaded area in the park. It is hot and very muggy in New York, but it was a good and (cheap) meal $11.00 for the both of them.

It is about 4:00pm and Elise just got back from a walk to a wine place on Montague about four blocks away and she bought 2 bottles of wine ( Chardonnay for Ann and Cab for herself). Elise also picked up a pint of Jack Daniels (Our mainstay on our trips together). Stopped at a little market and she pick up some diet cokes and bananas. The wine seems to be he same price there as it is here in Arizona. The room rate (Conference rate) is $169.00 per night. Later Elise and Ann took a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge and they are pooped. The bridge was built right after the Civil War it is amazing. Their were lots of people walking and biking on the bridge and many, many cars were down below the foot bridge area. It was hot 92 degrees and muggy, but well worth the trip outside. Once we were in Manhattan they stopped at a fountain and drank some bottled water they had bought for a dollar apiece from a push cart vendor. They continued to walk and they stopped at a pub called The Beekers. It was just a dive but packed with people. They ordered the specials, Sauerbrauten with fried potato pancakes and corned beef and cabbage. Ton's of food for $13.95 apiece. Elise had a glass of red and Ann had a beer each costing $6:00 apiece. All in all a great meal. They they walked back to the Marriott.

22 Aug 09

Sara and Elise got up at around 8:30am and went to the gym to workout. Later after showering they left to go to a pharmacy to get some pain pills for Sara. Afterward they got directions to the Transit Museum which showed how the NY subways were built 100 years ago. It was very interesting (Sandhogs) were the men that risked their lives to work in the tunnels in compressed air, very dangerous work. After the museum they got on the subway and went to Manhattan where they walked and walked and walked until they found a ticket place where they redeemed the online pass for three tickets to the Gray Line Tours. The they went to a place called Nizza's (A gluten free pizza place), where they had pizza with pesto sauce and fried eggs on top, and they had an Arugula salad. Elise had a vodka and tonic along with the meal. The food was good and not too expensive, $34:00 dollars plus tip. After eating Elise and Sara went on a Gray Line tour of Harlem and it's surrounding areas. They were on the top tier of the bus and halfway through the tour it started to rain. The were given ponchos, but they still got wet, very wet!! It was fun though. They took the subway back to the Marriott after wandering around and around trying to find the subway entrance. Once they got back they showered and threw down a Jack and Coke. Elise, Ann and Sara got back on the subway and went to Times Square to see a play that Ann had prepaid for at $117.50 each ticket. The play was "Avenue Q". It was funny and risque. After the play they dined at a place where Elise ordered a Tongue sandwich and a side order of chopped liver. I was very good. Elise had 2 glasses of red, Ann had 2 beers, Sara had 2 vodka tonics. The bill was $103.00 and they shared a huge piece of a very delicious cheesecake

23 Aug 09

They all got up at 10:00am (since they didn't get in until 2:00am) they walked to he subway and they went to Ground Zero where the twin towers used to be. They went thought the museum ($5.00 apiece) and it was well worth it. We left with tears in our eyes (all of us) we stumbled on a fire station and Sara got her picture taken with a firefighter named Salvadore (Sali for short). He said the base salary iis$100,000. They work 9 hour shifts (not 24 hours) and have to work at least 4 days (shifts) a week. Quite a few firemen from this station were killed on 9-11. They continued to walk and walk until they reached Chinatown an then to Little Italy, where they ate lunch at "Buona Notte". They shared a Caprese salad, devil shrimp and grilled chicken with salad, and of course a glass of wine and coffee. The bill was $88.00 with tip added. Hey we subwayed to Time Square and took the Gray Line tour through Soho, Greenwich, Wall Street, United Nations, Central Park, and Chinatown. A point of interest is that Sara went online and the cost of living is 43% higher in NY than in Phoenix. It is even higher if you live in Manhattan, very expensive there. After to tour they visited gift shops and Elise bought t-shirts but when she went to pay she could not find her Amex card. She had left it at the Italian restaurant, so Sara called and sure enough it was there. They had a terrible time getting back there but they finally made it and Elise got her card back. Thank God!! They found a subway and returned to the Marriott, they were pooped. They decided to go back out at around 8:00pm and they went to the Rockefeller Center where they went to the "Top of the Rock". That is the observation deck on the 70th floor. It was great. The city was all lit up and it hummed like it was alive, very cool. They read about the John D. Rockefeller an then they went to street level to find a place to eat dinner. Oh- the cost of the the observation deck was $20.00 each well worth it. We talked over about dinner choices and Sara didn't want steak, Elise didn't want Indian food, Ann refused Japanese so the opted for for Irish at a pub called "The Playwrite" and it was a good choice. Elise had Tilapia and it was heavenly, Sara and Ann had chicken, but each was prepared differently. They each had a glass of wine and Ann had a cup of coffee. The bill was $91.00 and they gave $18.00 for a tip, It is now 1:15am and we just returned to the Marriott.

24 Aug 09

We just woke up (Well I am up and so is Sara). We didn't get to sleep until 2:00am but we slept well. We all took showers, packed up and called to see of we could extend the checkout time to 1:00pm. They said no at first, but then changed their mind. We decided to walk over to Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights to find a place to eat breakfast. It is a beautiful, historic neighborhood with lots of trees etc. We found a little place called "Happy Days" and Ann and Elise shared an omelet and Sara had her own omelet. It was very good. They sat outside and watched people walk by. The meal was $27.00. Then we walked to Brooklyn Parkway which is right on the bay. We could see Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty as well as the Manhattan Skyline. So beautiful and very cool weather. We walked back to the Marriott after stopping off at a grocery store so I buy some bananas and Sara could buy some fruit. We got a taxi and Ann and I went to La Guardia ($30.00) and Sara rode the subway to JFK Airport. It was a very good trip a bit pricey but not bad at all.

Well, there you have it a breakdown of Elise's trip to the Big Apple. She enjoyed it very much.

Good Night

Good Night

It has been a very nice Sunday here in Tucson. I had a very nice time with Elise's Mum this morning. Chris and I had a blast today watching My Bloody Valentine, he loved it and so did I. It was more funny than scary, but it had its gross out moments. I am going to watch it again this time in the 3D format with my 3D glasses it should be even funnier.

I will be leaving in about 20 minutes to pick up Elise and Ann from the airport. I think I will take along a plate, a fork, knife and spoon as a hint that she needs to feed me, smile. Looking forward to hearing more about their trip to the Big Apple. Well, I had better get back to Chris and get him settled.

We are getting a lot of wind right now and we have a lot of cloud cover, so we just might get some rain this evening. Have a good night and beware tomorrow is Monday.

Hello

Hi Again,

I just got back from IHOP having breakfast with Elise's Mum. The place was really crowded this morning for some reason. Is the economy getting better? I had the Pigs in a Blanket and Elise's Mum had French toast, bacon, eggs. Mum ate every bite she must to have been hungry this morning. We shared to pots of coffee that hit the spot.

We talked about many things to include when was Elise and Ann returning and that they both should be very tired when they get in. After breakfast I took Mum back home and I stopped at Blockbuster to get another DVD for Chris and I to watch this afternoon. I got My Bloody Valentine 3D, I have to get these type of movies in while Elise is away.

Well, I had better get Chris dressed and up so we can get ready to be scared silly, not! We hope that your day is going well so far?

Good Night

Good Night

The day is winding down for Chris and I. It has been a hot one today with a few sprinkles and I do mean a few. We may get some rain this evening or later tonight, who knows.

Chris and I were very busy today. I cleaned the yard behind Chris 's house and and I cleaned the backyard area as well. I believe I lost at least 3 0r 4 pounds today. I ran a few errands and I stop at Fry's to get something for dinner. A small salad idea from Marcie and a couple of pieces of chicken. Thanks Marcie.

I got another DVD to watch after Chris falls asleep. I got the Unborn a DVD that Elise would not watch at all. Speaking of Elise I have not heard from her as of yet. I am sure that they are getting in a last look at the Big Apple before they return tomorrow evening.

Well, I had better get back top Chris so he can ease into sleep for the night. I believe that after Chris falls asleep I will get a shot of Gentleman Jack straight. That should do the trick so I can ease into a peaceful sleep. Have a good night and a great Sunday.

The humidity must be really high because the evap is not working well this morning in Chris's house. Do you have any plans for today? Chris and I have no plans so we are going to take it easy. I will be caring for Chris this weekend due to his caregiver Rosemary is not available.

I enjoyed my White Castle burgers last night while I watched The Last House On The Left it was a very good thriller with a lot of twists and turns with a very, very surprised ending. Can you say microwave? I will get another DVD for tonight maybe a comedy this time.

I heard from Elise last night after 10:00pm our time. She is having a good time in New York but it is really wearing her down, but that is New York for you. Evening

Hello

Well, how are things? I finished running my errands and it has been a fair day so far. I took Chris out for a walk when it turned cloudy and guess what? Yes, we got rained on big time and we both were soaked. Chris loved it and I sad a few choice words to myself. It rained pretty good and we even had thunderboomers and the weatherman says that it is not over yet.

I got Chris out of his chair and put him into his bed and got him dried off and now he is watching TV. Marv will be here shortly to care for him. JT came by for a short visit to bring me his eye exam bill and the bill for his contacts as well. He is headed back up to Tempe to do some volunteer work with the newly arriving freshman.

I got myself another DVD to watch tonight. This one is called The House On The Left. A thriller about a group of serial killers. It should be entertaining, at least I hope so. I also picked up some White Castle Hamburgers for dinner. I love White Castle burgers. I wonder what Elsie is having for dinner tonight? I bet it is not a burger, smile.

Well, I had better go and check on the dogs and get them fed. Have a good night and enjoy it. I haven't heard from Elise yet and I guess she is really enjoying her visit to New York.

Cheerio................

Good Night Jeanne

Herman, thank you for the info about the Brooklyn Marriott.

How are you this Friday morning? I started the day off at 5:15am caring for Chris. I was awaken this morning by the dogs barking at something behind Chris's house. It is 80 degrees right now and we have a 30% chance of some of the wet stuff. The coffee is great and a second cup is in order.

I have to run to my office this afternoon and while I am out I will pick up another DVD to watch for this evening. Marv will be caring for Chris this evening and I will relax and maybe have a Jack and Coke, smile. I hope that your day goes well and I hope that your weekend is even better.

Later........ It is back to bread and water, smile.

Good Morning Jeanne

Good Night

Good Night

Well, the day is winding down and that is a very good thing. Brent just returned with Chris from Park Mall and they had a very good time. I got a call from Elise and she is having a good time. She went to a Farmer's Market and she bought some fresh fruit and she also bought a couple of bottles of wine as well. They walked across the Brooklyn Bridge and they looked at Lady Liberty from the Manhattan side. It started to get dark and they walked back across the bridge and they got to see the flame on the touch of Lady Liberty light up.

They also stopped to eat and the portions were huge and they brought some back to their room to give to Sara when she arrives this evening. It sounds like they are having a good time and that is good. I am about to start my movie and eat a little dinner along with my bread and water, still smiling. Have a good evening and sleep well. I am going to watch The Haunting In Connecticut.

Cheerio..................

Good Night Jeanne

Flo and John, how was the train ride?

Howdy

Hello

How are things going do far today? It has been a different kind of day today. The nurse supervisor came by for a visit and Chris enjoyed that a lot. His massage therapist arrived late due to an emergency and that threw the day off by quite a bit.

When Brent arrived Chris was about halfway through his massage so that meant that his
trip to go swimming has to be canceled. So Brent took Chris to Park Mall instead. It also made me be behind in my errands that I had planned on running as well. While I was running my errands I left my cell in the car and I missed a call from Elise.

So now I am going order a pizza and some chicken wings for dinner because I am starving. Brent is caring for Chris this evening so I will chow down and watch a scary DVD. What a day, huh? I may need a beer or two to smooth things over.

Later...

Jeanne, how are you doing?

Good Morning

How are you doing? I started the day off at 5:45am caring for Chris. He is ready to get the day started and he is talking up a storm, and I haven't had any coffee yet. I had better put the kettle on so I can get in a talkative mood too.

Chris will be receiving his massage today at around 10:ooam and he will be visited by my nurse supervisor Ruth at 11:00am. Chris will be going swimming today with Brent at Reid Park, he loves it there. I will run a few errands while they are away. Do you have any plans for today?

I talked with Elise last night on the phone and she told me about her flight to New York. They had a lay over in Dallas and the connecting flight was cancelled and they had a to wait over 3 hours to get another flight. She said that her and Ann slept during the flight because they were really tired. They arrived in New York and they are staying at the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott. Elise likes the room very much. I told her about what went on here and that things were just fine, except that the bread and water was not cutting it at all, smile. She will call again tomorrow. I called her Mom to let her know that they made it to New York and I informed her of the problem with the airline as well.

I had better get some coffee so I can get a move on. Have a good day and stay safe.

Later..............

Good Morning Jeanne

Herman, did you find out any info about the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott?

Good Night

Good Night

It has been a good day today for Chris and I. We relaxed and we took it nice and easy today. We listened to a book on tape and we watched TV most of the day after I put him through his physical therapy session.

Now I am about to get him back into his bed for the evening. I have to decide what to prepare for dinner for Chris and myself. I will fix Chris some pasta and sauce and I will fix some, I don't know what I am going to prepare for myself. I may heat up a TV dinner to go along with my bread and water, smile.

Well, I had better get busy. Have a good evening and sleep well. I am looking forward to Elise calling from New York to see how things are going.

Cheers....................

Good Night Jeanne

Anne, good to hear from you today. I will remind Elise to keep a journal of her trip New York for you.

Joe and Mary enjoy your trip and stay safe.

How are you this morning? I started the day off at 5:30am caring for Chris. Elise is still asleep but she will be up shortly. Her sister Ann. is knocked out as well, I believe that this runs in the family, eh? Chris is doing just great and is talking up a storm this morning. The coffee is good and hot and I am in need of it badly.

Well, Elise is up and getting herself together and so is Ann. I am taking them to the airport this morning to catch an early flight to New York. Yep, I am going to be a lonely soul until Sunday evening when they return. I have a good supply of bologna, crackers, bread, jelly and peanut butter to tide me over until Elise returns, smile.

Well, I had better get busy with Chris and get him settled before I leave for the airport. Have good Hump Day all.

Later....................

Good Morning Jeanne, you are a dear, thank you.

Good Night

Good Night

Well, it has been another peaceful day here in the Old Pueblo. After Brent arrived this afternoon to care for Chris, Elise and I went to the movies to see 500 Days and it was pretty good. We were going to go to see Food, Inc but the times were no good for us.

We returned home and Elise prepared dinner that consisted of corn on the cob, green bean and rice, tomatoes, and prosciutto rolls. We downed it with ice tea. I am caring for Chris this evening and Elise just left to play bridge at her Mom's.

I will be taking Elise and her sister Ann and her niece Sara to the airport early in the morning for their trip to New York. So it will be bread and water for me until she returns on Sunday evening. I am sure that she will have a good time. Well, I had better get busy with Chris. We hope that your day went well? Have a good Hump day tomorrow.

Nite..............

Good Night Jeanne

JT, I will get a check out to you tomorrow.

Rosie, how are you doing?
