Afternoon It's Still Monday Right?

Good Afternoon,

How are you doing? We are still here in the desert of Tucson. Here is a bit of what went on during our staycation here in Tucson at the Marriott TownePlace Suites. Again we thank my brother Herman for getting us great rates and deals when we travel.

2-16-11

We started our staycation by meeting up with Ron and Nancy at Gus Balones for breakfast. It was great to see them and it was a lot of fun. We wish that we could see more of them. Elise had her usual the ham and eggs and I got my usual pork chops and eggs. Yummy let me tell you.

After breakfast we stopped at Toni's house to drop of Mum's walker for her to have and use. She was so pleased to have it that she wanted to pay for it and Elise declined the offer, but Toni said that she would make a donation to the Women's Club instead and that was very nice.

We arrived at the Marriott at around 12:10pm and we checked in and got settled. We turned on the laptop and we got ready to play games at 2:30pm. We ate Frito's and my famous tuna jalapeno dip and we also had popcorn as well. WE drank massive amounts of Jack and Coke. We had some fun relaxing and doing nothing. Elise kept thinking about her Mom ans how she was and then remembered she was not here to worry about. It is going to take some time to accept that. I even asked her to call her Mom , and then I stopped as I remembered. We usually call her daily when we are on a staycation or on vacation. We played games until 7:30pm, Wow! We finally called it game over at 11:00pm.

2-17-11

We woke up at 9:00am Wow! I took a nice hot shower while Elise was working out in the gym. She returned and she took a shower as well before we left for breakfast. We went to Village Inn and the food was very good and the place was packed and short of help. I had the chicken fried steak and Elise had oatmeal with cranberries and nuts. Good food. While we were eating we looked over the movie listing in the paper and we picked the movie Sanctum 3D at the IMAX theatre to see later in the day.

Last night Elise's Mom paid her a visit. Elise told her that she loved her and was grateful to have known her all of these years. Also Elise told her that she was very happy to help her during these last few years. Elise always made herself available to assist her(without disrupting her own life) except for the last three weeks which were very stressful and filled with Mom's needs only. Elise is happy that they became such good friends and she told her that she was blessed by her presence and love. Elise was always there for Mum when other family members were not and at times that really bothered me. As Elise talked to her Mom she could feel her gently slipping farther and farther away. Elsie did not feel sad, it felt liberating and peaceful and so very right.

At around 6:00pm headed for the movies and it was great. IMAX is wonderful and 3D made it even better. After the movies we had dinner at Picazzos and we ordered a gluten free pizza and 2 orders of hot wings. While we were there we found out that they has just reopened due to the franchise people had blown it, so the original owners had taken over. They gave us some good deals. Elise got her free due to they had run out of martini glasses and they gave us the wings for happy hour prices, so we saved $20.00. Awesome!! After dinner we stopped at Whole Foods o get some jalapenos and they have a huge gluten free product selection. Wow it has been such a good day so far.

Now it is 7:30pm and we are watching our Wildcats play Washington State and we are eating pizza and wings. We go a bottle of red from Trader Joe's called "Well Red" it is very good. It is about 9:30pm and the Cat's won. That calls for a few Jack and Cokes. Great food and drink. Burp!!!!!

2-18-11

We woke up at 8:00am due to my cellphone bean to ring. It was a 800 number. Bummer! We left to eat breakfast at the Blue Willow but we changed our mind and we hit Village Inn again. Are we creatures of habit or what? NOT!! We returned to our room and we listened to some more of our book on CD prior to checking out. On the way home we stopped at Plaza Liquor and we picked up a case of Gruet Champagne for Mum's celebration toasting. We got home and we unpacked the Kia and we picked up Chris for his doctor's appointment. After that we returned home and we went to Oregano's for thin crust pizza and a bottle of red and a few Bellini's for dessert. It was a very peaceful and much needed staycation.
