Good Morning
Mood: Feeling Good
Music listening to: Dancing On The Ceiling by Lionel Richie
Wake up! How are you doing? I started the day off at 5:20am looking in on Chris and getting him ready to start his day. Elise is still floating on a small cloud this morning but she will be up and raring to go. Elise will be caring for Chris this morning. Any plans for today?
We are going out for breakfast with Mum to a place called Millie's Pancake House. We have not been there in ages and the food is great there. I am on my second cup of coffee this morning and it is good and hot. Elise and I are going to the movies this evening after Rosemary arrives to care for Chris. We are going to see the "Hereafter" by Clint Eastwood.
We had a very nice time last night. We stopped in a new restaurant called "Downtown" we looked it over and Elise had a dry martini and I had a Mojito that was very good. Then we walked over to "Casa Vicenti" for dinner and it was great. Elise ordered a glass of red and I had one of the specialty drinks. We munched on cubed potatoes that sat in a mild and a hot sauce, it was very good. We ordered our Tapas and we were really ready for them. We shared Pork tenderloin, stuffed calamari, orange roughy with little shrimp, and giant clams. It was excellent.
After dinner we walked over to the Arizona Theatre Company to see the play "Ma Rainey Black Bottom" it was excellent. It was set back in the 1920's and it showed just how bad racism was back in the day for blacks. It showed deep concerns about personal feelings and things that had happened to family and friends. It also showed how racism causes many other problems to arise amoung not only blacks but everyone. It was a good comparison of then and now and in many ways no change has been seen. The theatre was packed and I thought that many did not really get the message that it presented. The music was very good and the singing was great and the meaning of having the blues was understood by all.
We returned home and I checked on Chris and we called it a night. A very good day indeed.
Well, here is a bit more from our Kentucky trip.
21-Oct-10
We got up at around 8:15am we sleep for about 12 hours and it was great. Nice and quiet and a great bed. We went down for breakfast in the hotel and Elise had oatmeal, yogurt and a scrambled egg. I had eggs, a biscuit, turkey sausage and a cinnamon roll. We both had plenty of coffee. After we went to Nancy and Ron's home and she gave us a tour of her beautiful house. Afterward we left to start our tour of the Bourbon Trail. Nancy drove and Elise was up in the front seat and Presha and I sat in the back. The first distillery was the "Four Roses" in Lawrenceburg, KY. It was filled with smells and sounds that made it hard to hear the tour guide at times as she talked about the plant and how it worked. Of course we had to have a few tastings and it was very good. We purchased a few glasses to take back with us that had to Four Roses logo on it with the roses in the bottom of the glass.
After that we ate lunch at a place called "The Talk of the Town" which was very good. Elise had a chicken salad(no bread), I had a club sandwich and a pasta salad, Nancy and Presha ordered Reuben sandwich's. It was all good. Then we went to the "Wild Turkey" distillery. We learned a lot about how bourbon is made. The working portion of the distillery was closed due to it was moving into new and bigger place up the road. This time the tour guide was very good and you could hear every word. Yes, we had our tastings there too and it was good but the Four Roses tastings we outstanding. We left and we returned to Nancy and Ron's home, Ron was home and it was good to see him.
We left and returned to our hotel and then we walked around on 4th street in the downtown area. We felt a bit weird because here we are wearing shorts and everyone else was wearing long pants and jeans, but we got over it. It was a bit chilly though, smile. We got a call from my brother Herman to see when were we going to see my niece Melodee and we had made arrangements to meet on Tuesday due to Mel was going to Nashville over the weekend. Herman keep calling to see where we were and what we were doing several times that evening. He called and said that Mel could meet us this evening instead of on Tuesday and that was great. We told Herman that she could meet us at a place called "Red Star Tavern" on 4th street and he said that she would meet us there. We got a table a a glass of red while we waited for Mel to arrive.
Mel arrived and it was good to see her we bot gave her big hugs. I did not know it but Elise had a funny feeling that something was up because Herman kept calling to see where we were. We began to talk with Mel and the next thing you know Donna appeared. Donna is Herman's wife and right after that Talia appeared. Talia is my niece as well and then Herman appeared. Wow , it blew me away we were totally surprised and very happy to see them all together. Herman said that they had been waiting all day to surprise us but we were just not staying put. We all had a very nice dinner together and Herman picked up the tab. What a treat it was and it will be remembered forever. We returned to our room and we called it a night. A very good evening in Louisville, KY.
Well, I had better get ready for breakfast with Elise and Mum.
